Pull straight down on the handle and release the press button on wall until trolley passes through the carriage.

Check your door sensors. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

Do you have the users manual of the system with you?Read it and follow the calibration instructions,it may take some trial and error to go through it,buts thats how we do it when we install a new or used garage access system.But of course you have to have some one to work with you cause you might be adjusting some pins or rollers,just an advice.

Garage door opener wont switch from manual to electric again

I think what you mean is you pulled the rope to open and close the door manually and now you can't get the two halves of the trolley to reconnect.
If so, pull straight down on the rope and release. Then run the door so the two halves of the trolley connect. You may have to do that last step manually. If this isn't your problem post back.

Craftsman Garage Door not working, motor seems fine

I have similar jerkiness problem and have gone through all the nine yards of possible causes. The motor stops at random position and at random time. Even when I unhook the door from the carriage, it still showed this symptom. It started when I had one torsion spring broken. I replaced both torsion springs and adjusted for weight balance. Make sure the two cables windup properly along the thread of the pulley; Checked the photo eye sensors; checked/test capacitor; cleaned rpm sensor; adjusted all possible force settings; make sure limit switch at sound; re-programmed my remote just to check if the logic board somehow still work on this side and it did;
One important observation I have is that when I adjusted the carriage chain, I've noticed that the opener unit turns off and on as if there's a loose connection/contact. This I pursued more. The more I investigate, I spotted a "tiny" spark on one logic board soldering at the transformer footing as I **** the back panel (where the board is mounted) back and forth to simulate the on/off due to the loose contact observed earlier. This one solves everything! All I had to do is take the logic board out and re-solder that failed connection and Hooray - it fixed the problem!
Hope this helps someone with similar issues,

Fairley new opener but it unhooks from the Carriage Assembly once every 5th time

sounds like the carriage is coming of the connector and that usually happens when the cariage travels to far and bumps the power head of the machine that split second **** is enough to unhook it fro the carriage because the next motion would be coming down and probably without the door attached to the connector , and by connector i mean the other half of the carriage Remedie ;; adjust the open door travel to not come up as high let it stop about 2 inches before the machine and that should fix-it , Thank you and hopefully i was able to help you please leave a good rating if i was able to help Sincerely Glenn Mayer ....mayer overhead door co,

Door won't open

I don't know about the ground sensors, I do know they are a safety feature so it won't come down on something if the eyes are blocked. Try replacing the bad "eye"
For the buzzing noise, check the capacitor to see if it has blown out and requires replacement. To test this, you should be able to disconnect the door, open it manually, reconnect the door to the carriage assembly, and close the door using the GDO. The capacitor is only used to give the machine enough power to initially lift the door. It does not use the capacitor to close. Other signs to a blown capacitor is white secretion physically coming out of the capacitor. Get the MFD (microfarad) number range off the capacitor and the voltage (usually 220 volts, possiblye 330.) and find a replacement capacitor for the brand of your opener.
