Open Question

Attache Optima Pro 4GB USB drive not recognizable on my mac

The flash drive was working properly on my macbook until a few weeks ago after I lend my flash drive to my friend who uses windows vista. It is no longer writtable when I plugged it into my macbook, now when I plug it in in any kind of computer with different operating systems it does not work. It's not even recognized by any computers. I've never had this problem and I've also been searching on the web for solutions. Please help me if you know the answer to this problem. Thank you!!!

SOURCE: 4GB Attache flash drive says it's locked.

Plug in the stick. wait for it to come up on the desktop then click on it once. (do not open it).
From the file menu select "Get Info"
In the panel that opens up you will see a row of coloured squares. Underneath is a checkbox marked "Locked"
Is it empty or ticked?
If it's ticked, untick and see what happens in disk utility. If it's not ticked that then would appear to be a problem with the stick.
For what it's worth, I did a google on this stick and found that there are numerous posts about it becoming read only on Vista, so it may well be a problem with the manufacturer.

Just bought a 4gb attache, plugged it into the usb on macbook pro and nothing happens

You can try going to the Disk Utility (which is under Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility), selecting the drive (if it appears) and click "Mount". If it doesn't show up in the Disk utility, then the device may not be connected properly, the USB port may not be functioning, or the device may be malfunctioning. You may try reformatting the drive with the Disk Utility if it is blank and you are just using it for the first time.

Go to ADD HARDWARE and try to force the install.

Just so you know, Optima Pro Attaché USB 2.0 Flash Drive was designed with Windows Vista in mind, and works in conjunction with new SuperFetch (intelligent caching) to enhance system performance for quicker startup and windows multi-tasking.
But it's also compatible with most PC/MAC laptop and desktop computers with available USB 2.0 port (Backwards compatible to USB 1.0).

Optima attache

You may need to uninstall your USB port drivers thru the Windows Device Manager and reboot . Windows will see your USB ports when it restarts and reinstall the drivers which will include support for flash drives including Pny flash drives.
