Where is the fuel pump relay for 1998 volvo s70. This main relay/fuse box does not have a red relay labeled 103. is there another location outside the box?

The diagrams on line describe a different box that shows four relays sitting forward of the main fuses and none of them are labeled fuel pump relay. Is the relay someplace special? under the car, next to the fuel pump. someplace only swedes could appreciate?

Doh! There is a second fuse box behind the main fuse box. It's all there.

SOURCE: 1985 Volvo 240 no fuel no spark

well first the fuel pump relay is bad, that is easily replaced. next you have no spark. the first thing you do is take the cap off the distributerand crank the engine. if it spins that tell syou thyat at least the tang or gear on the shaft of the distributor is ok and not broken. next thing is remove the #1 plug and use a 1/4 drive extension 6" long and turn the crank by hand until the #1 cylinder is top dead center(put the extension in the hole of head where the plug was and you should feel the top of the piston also make sure you can feel the top of the piston with half the extension this way you don't drop it in the cylinder with the piston at TDC(top dead center) the rotor of the distributor should be pointed at the #1 firing position. IF it does not that means your timing is off and you need to retime it by taking off timing cover and either replacing the belt/chain or gears. now if you do not have a distributor and you have a coil pack there could be only 2 things that won't give spark. either a bad coil or your altenater is bad(the battery is responsible for starting not running the vehicle like alot of people assume. the altenator energizes the coil which inturngives spark. hope this helps you please rate this thanks

Fuel pump relays are located under the hood either inside or adjacent the main fuse box. The fuses and relays are labeled on the inside of the cover(s).

My Brake lights won't work on a 1998 Volvo S70

There are several possible reasons. Obvious ones might be checking for fuses that are burned out. Second would be making sure you are getting good connections to your brake lamps (all 3). Third, check the brake light switch at the pedal. And last, Volvo Part Number 9442303 is a brake lamp failure relay that can go bad. It's not inexpensive, but probably more than likely the issue. One way to check is to find out if your cruise control works. If it does not, it is likely the relay. It is grey and flat on all sides. Earlier model Volvos had round red ones. Check the location in the service manual.

How to turn off traction control in 99 s70 volvo that has automatic traction

On my 1998 S70 there is a rocker switch next to the sunroof and back window and mirror heat below the tachometer on the right hand side of the dashboard. If you have no other way, remove the fuse from traction control on the the main fuse box under the hood on the drivers side. There should be a guide to which fuse is which on the lid of the fuse box.

I have a 1998 Volvo S70. In cold start up, car runs 15 seconds, then dies out. It won't start after that. I've cleaned throttle body, cleaned out air induction pump, and replaced air pump relay.

Does the car throw a check engine code? If so, what is that code?

This could also possibly be the ignition. My V70 had a bit of trouble on a couple of cold mornings. I replaced the ignition switch (located in the steering column on the opposite side of the key hole).

Also check the fuel pressure and fuel filter. Could be a pump and filter problem. Fuel condenses at lower temperatures and if the pump is having issue pushing the thicker fuel through the filter, take a look at that to be an issue.

Lastly, check the throttle and the fuel injectors. Run fuel system and injector cleaner like HEAT through the fuel tank to see if it helps.

Trying to find the fuel pump FUSE.

There is no fuse specifically dedicated to the fuel pump on this year and model of Suburban. This Suburban is equipped with dual tanks and as such has two relay switches, primary and secondary, both of which are located at the main fuse box in the engine bay, that power up the respective fuel pumps.

The closest fuse (15A) controlling either of these relays also powers up the main control module (located beside and below the main fuse box). So, if one needs to disconnect the fuel pumps from functioning, then the only effective method is to disconnect the fuel pump relays.
