Camera Flash is not working

I am having the camera for the last 1.5 years. For the last few months, the flash is not working even if we turn it on and also the image will be dark if the flash is on. Very rarely it works !!! The AF Illuminator is set as 'Auto'. Everything was working fine initially when I bought the camera. Please let me know what could be the solution for this ... Thanks in advance

Re: Camera Flash is not working

This kind of error requires a professional assistance. Please contact your nearest Authorized Sony Service for price estimate. The best possibble option for you is if this error is because of poor soldering/contact. Otherwise replacement of complete board SY-123 is too expensive. If you need more info please advice.

I have a Canon PowerShot A530 camera which is around 4 years old. till recently it was working great but from last 3 months, it is giving false indication of low batteries and shuts down. Even after full...

if you are using this camera for 4 yrs with the same lithium battery then you might need to try a new battery
any lithium battery cell's capacity diminishes after long use. it reduces the cell's ability to deliver current. the older batteries do not charge as much as new one.
when you charge your battery it irreversibly loses approximately 20% capacity per year.
hope this help

The flash bulb may be broken. Try contacting Pentax to get it fixed.

My flash doesn't work? how do i turn it on?

Have you tried resetting your camera? Powerdown and take batteries out. Then hold "power" button for 30 seconds, release and repeat couple of times.

Problem with the Flash Light of Nikon COOLPIX L12 Digital Camera

I know some of the common things for the digital camera. I want you to try these.

-------->If the built-in flash does not function, then the camera may be set to Auto and will only flash when taking pictures in poorly illuminated environments.
-------->Set the camera to the Forced flash setting so it will flash regardless of the surrounding brightness.

IMPORTANT: If the Forced flash setting is already enabled and the flash is still not working, then the issue may be due to another camera setting. Even if the Forced flash setting is enabled, the flash will still not work in the following circumstances:

* When shooting MPEG movies
* When set to the Twilight mode
* If an external flash is connected

The information above should resolve your issue. However, if the issue still persists, you can try resetting the camera to factory specifications.
Some cameras have a RESET button built into them or a menu option to reset the camera to the default settings.
Refer to the instruction manual supplied with your camera for specific information regarding the availability of a RESET button or menu option to reset the default settings. Otherwise, continue with the manual reset procedure below.

1. Turn off the camera.
2. Ensure the camera is not connected to an AC power adapter.
3. Remove the battery from the camera for 15 seconds.
4. Reinsert the battery.
5. Turn on the camera.

If all the above fails you, then i doubt that Impact damage would have caused the flash not to work.
But i know you are not going to like this solution. No other way , you have to contact Nikon service centre for repair.

i hope this helps to fix your problem.
Thanx for using fixya.

XTi 400D flash

It appears that the small hook that holds the flash down is not latching properly and perhaps needs replacement. If your camera is still under warranty, call Canon Customer care. Even if the warranty has just expired (like 1 or 2 months), they generally honor it and get the service done free of cost.

White pictures, low battery life, few pictures

I glued a small peice of plastic under the flash and above the camera lens to shade it from the flash when it goes off. I then only had 2 pictures out of 40 that showed a white picture. The plastic peice only sticks out about 1 inch and didn't affect the flash on the subject. I also drilled holes in the bottom and hooked up a 6 volt tractor battery to it this gave me over 1 month of battery life with another identical camera

Flash Not Working/Picture Not Taking Unless Flash Turned Off

well u can´t do much, it needs to have the board to be replaced. normally the repair centre just repair it, and if it is under warranty they will do it for free, probably the store was the one saying that u drop it to get some money.
