Question about Mitsubishi HS-U510 VHS VCR

1 Answer

Tape ejecting automatically

I have a Mitsubishi HS-U510 VCR. When we push a tape in; it cycles in and then back out again. It will not hold the tape. I found a piece of translucent plastic laying in side of the unitl about 1' by 1/2'. The electronic eye seems to be working. Is it time to trade up to a VCR/CD combo?

E-2 error what does that mean

E2 means: Loading motor locked in the unload direction. Usually(not always) happens with a going bad VCR tape on the rewind. Tape is becoming too difficult to rewind and/or VCR is getting tired. Eject tape. Discard tape as soon as practical, new tapes are cheap. To clear: Hold power on/off button for 8 seconds.

The problem is in the idler assembly that runs the tape and reels it in on eject, the drive belt will probably need replacing that is attached to the assembly.

Language setup for Mitsubishi HS-U510 VCR

I contacted Mitsubishi support. It is very likely the 510 and the 520 are similar. I was told to look at the back of the VCR (in the middle and lower) for a "timer reset" button. Pushing it will put you into initial setup mode and you can set your VCR to english menu. It works!
