Re: ice cube maker only dispences crushed ice no cubes
Remove ice bin look at small square opening reach in with your finger and pull down on vertical rod if it doesn't come down you'll have to remove complete auger asm from freezer (remove 2 1/4 screws and unplug electrical connection lift asm up and pull forward ) set out at lest 24 hours for asm to defrost and dry out then reinstall auger asm

check to see if you ice bin has full size ice cube in it... if there is then you dispense is stuck in the crush mode check to see if there is something keep the crushing wheels from releasing... other than that it could be the control on the door..hope this helps
You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back
and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts
connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see
if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid. With your model number I can find a diagram which may help.
I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.
I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.
Carriage that moves ice bucket rod up is frozen. It's right by the auger drive mote on the left- square hole. Remove bucket and try to free it with your finger. If no luck take hair dryer until you can move it up and down.
You said,It chops ice when dispensing but won't just dispense whole cubes. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
1. If the cubes dispense, but not whole cubes, there is not a enough water pressure. 2. r there is a restriction in the water line to the ice maker. 3. OR the fridge may not be level. 4. Is there a water filter and has it been Changed in the past 6 months?
Here are 4 reasons mentioned in the repair manual.
Shutoff arm in the off position Ensure the shutoff arm
is down and not in the raised position. If in the raised the position,
the ice maker is in the off position and will not cycle. Faulty Harvest Thermostat There is a thermostat
inside the ice maker that will close when the ice maker mold reaches the
proper temperature. If the thermostat is not closing, the ice maker will
Freezer To Warm The ice maker will not cycle if the temperature in the freezer in not below 12 degrees. Ensure proper temperature in freezer.
No water getting to ice maker The water inlet valve is
the control device that allows water to enter the ice maker. It is
energized during the last 5-8 seconds of the harvest cycle. During this
5 to 8 second period, there should be 110v across the two wires
connected to the valve . If there is power supplied to the valve and
the valve does not open to allow water to flow, the valve is defective.
if power is being supplied to the valve and water is flowing through it
freely, it could be that you water supply line or inlet tube have
frozen solid. These can be thawed with warm water or a hair dryer.
Let me know how it goes and what you found! Thank You , Huuuum Please remember to leave a rating!
You may have a broken solenoid inside the motor assembly. The solenoid controls the arm for cubed or crushed ice. The only way to tell is remove the ice dispenser motor assembly and look at the solenoid. If the solenoid is broken, replace it and everything should be ok.
Probably, but sometimes frost builds up in them and makes them unable to turn. They are gear reduction motors so you may not be able to turn it by hand, but if you take the ice container out, hold the door open, the door switch closed and press the ice dispenser and try to turn it whichever direction it's trying to go, you may be able to free it up. If that doesn't work you'll most likely need a new auger motor.
