Creative Zen Vision:M

My Zen has stopped working and is making a repeated clicking sound when I turn it on. I can reboot, it just says 'hard disk problem' Resetting it doens't work either. I've heard that I can try taking the battery out for a bit -but how do I get battery our of it?

I can't say this will work for you, but I had exactly the same problem (I think the clicking noise has something to do with the hard disk being slightly dislodged - possibly after dropping it?). I found that giving the side of the Zen a sharp smack on my knee sorted it out.

Freezing on the zen screen

Hello,

This sounds like it might be a hard drive problem. Have you tried to put it into Recovery Mode so you can troubleshoot it? Put a paperclip in the Reset hole while holding the power button in the On position. Then release the paperclip and continue to hold the power button until it goes to the Recovery Mode screen. You should at this point try Format and Scan Disk/Cleanup, then Reboot. If it still gets stuck at the same spot, then its going to be a hardware failure.

Firmware problem for zen vision M

I had the same issue with my zen vision m. It was not recognized on any computer (although it would charge) and I noticed that when I turned it on after having it off for any amount of time, the zen would rebuild half way before turning on.
If this is what is happening with you, then this one solution I found to fix it:
Download the MP3 Recovery Tool from Creative Support website. Make sure that your Zen is charged at least half.   Turn on your Zen, Holding the power switch in the on position (Very Important!). While holding the Power switch on, Reset the Zen by inserting a small object in the Reset hole on the bottom of the Zen (small objects can include thumbtack, wire, earring, etc...). You will see a menu: Clean Up, Format, Reload OS/Firmware, Reboot. (It is now safe to stop holding the Power switch) I decided to go down the list until something worked.  I ran Clean Up first and that didn't work for me, so I tried Format.  It will remove all of your data. Once Format runs, Reboot the MP3 player and plug it up to the computer. Run MP3 Recovery Tool. The firmware should should install itself on your MP3. Once installed, your computer should recognize the Zen.
I hope this helps!

Zen Vision: m does not load past the Logo screen.

After you turn on the player, put your ear up to the back side of it and keep listening for about 2 minutes. If the hard drive eventually stops spinning or makes a repeated clicking noise over and over in a repeated pattern then the hard drive is bad. It sounds to me like that is the case. You will need to get the hard drive replaced. You should take it to a technician, or you can also do it yourself, but be careful. The parts inside are delicate and easy to damage.
