I'm unable to scan to email from a dell 2335dn mfp. I have entered the smtp settings to the printer, I'm able to connect to the printer via its web page and change settings. This worked last night when the printer was first set up, but not today Any ideas

To scan to email, Administrator email address must be set in the machine (any bogus email address will work too).
Also, email server address must be input as IP address if DNS or WINS is not running in LAN.

I've just discovered that Ricoh's built in software only works if your SMTP server sends out without picking up password or authentication.
Having same issue and it worked fine when it was behind corporate firewall with the same connection settings (IP address) as the SMTP server.
Once I changed web hosting - it won't recognize the SMTP server or any authentication methods. According to IKON (Ricoh support for the USA) - your SMTP server has to have "relay exception"

Scan to Email Configuration, Step by Step


Just set up email as normal, scan doc to pc,check docs or scan folder on pc for scanned doc, open new email and click the attach icon, navigate to scanned doc folder, highlight and press ok, then type address and send.

How do i get a sp204sf to scan


That unit will scan to your computer using included software but it has more capability than that. The software commonly included is "bloatware" and functions okay. That being said I would set it up to scan to SMB (folder) and scan to SMTP (email). I will need to know a few things to better solve your problem:

  • Is it connected via USB, LAN, Wi-Fi, or a combination of these?
  • Who is your Internet Service Provider?
  • What Operating system are you running?
The ideal configuration is a network connection (LAN is preferred but Wi-Fi will do) and it needs to be connected to your modem/router .
To set up scan to email you need to enter the SMTP information via the web interface of that unit (like setting up outlook or another mail client).
You used to be able to use your ISP's mailserver unauthenticated on port 25 but many ISP's are starting to block that so the unit will need to be able to communicate via SSL over SMTP.
Scan to SMB (folder) requires you to set up a folder on your computer and give it the correct sharing, security, and user permissions so the unit will be able to communicate with the computer. This is dependent on which platform you are running (if you are running a newer mac then FTP will probably need to be used but that depends on the version of OSX.
If you can answer the above questions I can point you in the right direction.
Otherwise use the quick start guide and the included software.

I would like to scan a color picture and send it to my e-mail address. What are the exact steps to do this.




Type the machine ip adress on the adress bar of the machine and hit enter.
Then the machine webpage will appear



1. Click the Network Settings link, login asadmin, username is admin and password is also admin and click the Services Settings link.




2. Use the SMTP server IP addresses in the Primary andSecondary Server fields rather than the server names.


3. Verify if the mail server is using the default SMTP portof 25. If it is not, then change the Port Number to match the server. Port 587is a commonly used port if authentication is required.


4. The Reply Email Address must be a valid local emailaddress for some mail servers or messages will be discarded. If using a Reply Email Address like: noreply@whatever.comor scanner@whatever.com confirm that the email address actually exists.


5. If the server is running SSL (GMail uses SSL) for bettersecurity, check the box next to Enable SSL. Click here for instructions on how to setup scan to GMail.


6. Leave the User Name and Password blank temporarily andperform the Connection Test. A successful response will verify that the serveris really a valid SMTP mail server.

Scan to email gives server response error in home network. SMTP server tried by IP address and DNS name. Port 25 Authorisation POP for SMTP. The other authorisation types give a network error straight...

Mac user can't scan on Dell MFP 1600n


That's because you can't scan over wireless. In order to scan, you need to be connected via USB, so I hope you've got a MacBook...

I need to scan to email using the c353 konica Minolta. I used the same settings that the copier has that is working, but this one i set up won't scan to email.


This are the the information you need to setup scan to email and maybe you know how to access the web browser to setup the network. first you need to know the smtp host name or ip address, second you must create a valid email address for the copier. To access the web browser input the ip addrress and press enter click administrator and the password is 12345678 or 8 zeros. there are tab system info print, scan and network. click the the scan tab. choose scan to email first thing you will see enable scan to email smtp ip address or host name. enter the right smtp. witch this you can get to your mail server. do not change the port # and that is 25. Input administrator email address and the machine email address and turn on the authentication enter your user id and a password iof there is any.

I get an SMTP error when i try to emali from my Xerox Workcentre M20i. What can i do to scan or e-mail without being directly connected to the printer via parallel port or USB?


That is not true i work as a IT Spec for the Kentucky Army National Guard and we have over 20 M20I series printers in which we have set up to scan to email. None of these printers are hooked up directly to the computer and they all have the ablity to scan to email. if you printer dose not seem to have the ability they you will probally just need to update the os. Here are the steps to get it set up.

  1. Connect the printer to the network
  2. Print a network config sheet
  3. use IE to connet to the web based interface useing the printers IP
  4. Click on the properties tab
  5. hit the little plus sign by connectivity
  6. do the same with protocols
  7. find and click on smtp server
  8. add ip address in the ip address and if your server requires athenticating type in the user name and password
  9. if for some reason the maxium message size has undefined then you will need to complete reset the printer or you will get an error it needs to have options that can be selected.
  10. now go to services
  11. then email settings
  12. select apropriate modes and the default from address
  13. if you want to set permissions to the device you can do so under user authintcation
  14. you can also set up the LAB and GAB
Note:
some web sites may not allow you to suer this function one alternitive is to set up a local smtp server on your network and create a mail box for yourself then you will just need to put your smtp server address in the instructions listed in step 8. I hope this helps.

Scanning to C352 server connect error


Check you smtp server settings in admin settings. Verify there correct. If your smtp server needs your email address and password to send, that should be populated as well under them smtp authentication settings.

Scan to email


Scan to email needs an IP address or the SMTP server name and the port. Now it depends if you use an SMTP server or are you just at home? Normaly the SMTP port is 25. The SMTP server could be the one you use in your email account as well. Something like mail.upc.ie. If you dont have a SMTP server you cant set up scan to email.
