Text messages type in very strangely

When I try to type in a message, the letters don't take correctly. For example, if I want to type an "r" I get "Spr" and it's underlined. I can receive messages just fine, but I get this strange problem when I try to type.

You have it in a specific input mode. There is alpha (lower and upper case), numeric and another mode that will try to complete the word you are typing. On your screen it displays what mode you are in, hit the the key on your phone pad that changes the input mode. It could be the astrick/star key or another option key. While you are on the screen to input your txt msg watch the screen for a symbol that changes, usually an uppercase (ABC) or lower case (abc) to to (123)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Why is my brand new Alcatel phone putting in strange symbols when I send a text if its more than 160 characters?

My Samsung cell phone limits me to 140 characters so this is not unheard of. I split my messages to under 140 and ask people who need to write a veritable epistle to do so by email because my phone cuts vital pieces when it chops messages up on receipt.

When trying to text incorrect letters appear

There should be an option somewhere when you are in the message menu on how to switch from the text mode that tries to finish your words for you to the text mode where you have to push the button however many times to get the the single letter you want. Although if you are in the auto finish mode you can simply ignore what it's suggesting and continue spelling out the word yourself if you want. example: hit 9 6 8 one time each to spell the word "you"..buy if your trying to be able to short hand text like "thk u" your gonna have to look around in your text mode settings.
