Need to Replace Makita Drill Switch

I have a makita drill I want to fix for a christmas present. Its extremely worn but still works great, however the only numbers I can find on it that might be an ID or something are >pc- then directly below that GF15. I need to replace the switch on the back of the drill that alternates between drilling forward or reverse (the directional switch). I already have the replacement switch but I was hoping someone could walk me through replacing the switch or give me a link that will give me detail instructions on replacing it. I don't know a hole lot about electionics but the only place that repairs tools in my area is closed. Can somoene please help?

If you have the switch and know what tool you bought it for go to and under Authorized and Factory Service centers in the tool bar, click on it and the page will open to allow you to view or download a schematic for this product. Hope this helps. Dave

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

My Makita 6402 drill stopped working. I press the trigger and it does not make any noise at all

You will need to have someone take it a part and see where the problem lies.
Start with the electrical plug, both the wall plug and inside the drill where the wire attaches to the switch.
Often, the switch is the problem, but the wire itself can be bad, if the cord is worn.
There is such a thing as the wire separating inside the cord.
We will hope the unit is not "toast".
God bless your efforts.

Sticky makita drill

You can buy a can of electrical cleaner spray and try that. Otherwise the switch will need to be replaced.

My makita impact driver has lost power. it seems to be using the hammer much more and seems to be slipping. both the hammer and the andvil don't appear worn. the bushes are fine. what could be the problem?

This is more then likely caused by the plastic gears inside the drill wearing down. Makita may replace/repair under warranty depending on when you purchased the drill.

Can I buy a new motor for a 12 v Makita cordless? How much?

You need to contact Makita directly. But from experience, it's usually cheaper to purchase new drill than replace parts.

Makita HP 1640 hammer drill chuck loosens grip on drill while drilling

Sounds like the chuck is worn, happens frequently when used often. Here's the link to Makita, their contact info should get you some answers as to what part number is needed as well as the closest location to you for service if required. Hope this helps.

My sds hammer drill gets stuck in really hard re-enforced concrete and carries on spinning as if it has a security clutch. trouble is itcome on much too often now. how can i adjust?

You listed an SDS (plus or max?) hammer drill (no model #) under Makita chain saws. I'm assuming you have a Makita drill. Most of them have torsion limiters that let the motor turn when the bit gets stuck so as to prevent major damage to the tool or user. If it has been going on for some time you may have worn out some of the internal parts. There are no adjustable parts to fix this, you have to replace the worn parts.

My Makita 3.0ah cordless drill does not drive anything when I put pressure on it. Would the clutch be worn and if so is it easy to repair?

Clutch is part of the transmission assy - yes it is about the only thing that it can be causing your issue. It is a fairly inexpensive and easy fix on Makita - the worst part is removing the chuck.
