Turning on and off constantly

Similar problem to others with Switching off, then automatically switching on again. The problem appears much worse when source is set to AV. When HDMI source is selected it can go all night without a problem. As soon as I hit the source button, it turns off, then back on, on a very regular basis, like every few minutes

Does AV require more power to run, than HDMI?

I haven't added any new components, the ventilation hasn't changed since I've had this unit, which is about 3.5 years, and its only started happening about 3 months ago.

Would love to know if anyone has had a successful fix, and how much?

It seems to be that the tv is recycling, this issue is common when there's a defective ballast.
You could replace the ballast first and it's most probable you issue will be solved :)

I own a Samsung HL-R5067W 50'' DLP. Set is about 3 years old. Recently I heard a loud pop while viewing, picture distorted, but never went blank. I turned set off. When turned on again a loud whining noise...

Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.

42 inch Samsung DLP TV shuts off by itself. I can turn it back on and sometimes it stays on and other times shuts off within seconds. Some days it stays on all day without a problem. Other days it shuts...

I bypassed the safety switch (it was bad) and vacuumed and blew out all of the dust. So far with this set, 3 years old, I have replaced the bulb twice,it exploded both times, and the color wheel which also exploded! We love the picture but the next time it goes out, it goes out to the trash and I will purchase a top of the line LED/LCD set. No moving parts!!! Samsung designed and manufactured a whole bunch of lemon sets and will not admit it. I have found several hundred complaints about their DLP sets and only a few on other brands.

Samsung HLN 4365 wxixaa with Light engine failure????

When the tech said light engine what he ment was DMD board, the DMD board is the most important component on the light engine and most expensive, but still a lot cheaper then the entire light engine.

The DMD board can definetly, and often does cause intermitant errors. Your problem is absolutely not the Ballast, all the ballast is supply the power to turn on the lamp.

Your tech was right to go to the DMD board, the only other option that it could be is a digital board, you would have to see if it is doing this on all inputs.

Buzzing sound

You haven't specified where the buzzing sound is coming from, if it is coming from speakers, changing capacitors in the audio section will fix the problem, especially the filters. Now if it sounds like a hissing sound from back of the tv, the CRT base socket is the culprit. It is an easy thing to fix, and the base is cheap, but make sure you purchase the exact same type of base or it will harm the CRT. Good luck.
