Question about Kohler Flush Actuator K 9446 [ Bathroom, Bathroom Fixtures, Toilet Accessor

1 Answer

Installed a new Kohler model K 4350-0 floor mounted elomgated toilet with no apparent problem. Installed a Sloan Regal flushometer with no apparent problem. I have no leaks, and it appears to flush normally, water is rinsing down from all around the insides of the toilet bowl. The whirlpool effect is going on in the toilet bowl as normal, but no debris is flushed down the toilet. The water level in the bowl never deviates. Once the flush stops you do hear water running in the toilet for a couples seconds.

    The tank does not refill, but water continues to seep into bowl. I have to lift top and jiggle blue fill mechanism on right side of apparatus that is in the middle of the tank.

2 possibilities.

1) The diaphragm in the Sloan is for a urinal. (1.0gal vs. 1.6gal);

2) Not enough water. (stop partially closed, supply undersized)

Leaking urinal at base

Sometimes a normal wax seal is not enough. There are two alternate kinds. There are reinforced wax seals which is what I normally use and there are extra thick wax seals. Both should be available from your local Lowes, Home Depot, or Hardware store. When installing the new seal take special care to make sure it stays in the proper position. If it does not stay in position it will leak.

My flushometer kicks in, spays refill water into the tube, for 2-4secs at periodic intervals with out any one touching the lever

The rubber diaphram in the top of the valve could be leaking or wearing out.You could try flipping it over sometimes that helps prolong its life.You could also turn the volume set screw counter clockwise to increase volume which tends to not let the vacume break as easily.Or you can try tightening the flush handle nut if it has gotten sloppy.My guess you will find debris in the large diaphram on top

No water comes out of valve when flushed

As you are looking at the valve, on the infeed line, there is a cap where it makes the turn to the flush head. Remove this cap and behind it you will find a screw. This screw limits the water flow to the flush valve. Try turning the screw counterclockwise a bout one turn. Continue to adjust the screw until you have proper flushing results.

Try checking the water pressure. If it has dropped too low then the valve will never re-seat properly. Ideally over 90 psi.

Not enough water ,need flush it 3 time in regal flusometer

the right side where water comes to it through wall there is a cap that can be taken off it covers the shut off valve that takes a flat head screw diver to shut off or open up all the wall. check and make sue it is all the way open.

If it is shut it off and the cap on top where the flush handle is remove it once water is turned off and check it out. the kits to rebuild one it should be a 37-a or 36-a to replace this part if that is it.

These are a couple of thing's to check
