Question about Brother HL-2070N Laser Printer

1 Answer

Laser printer HL 2070N

A less than 3 month old laser printer. When asked to print, the paper comes out totally black. Have tried turning it off and back on, with no success of solving the problem. Also have rebooted the computer and still no success. Any suggestions. This is in a Family History Center where it is used weekly and needs to be working. Thank you.

This may be in the Drum unit, DR-350. Something could be blocking the scanner so remove the entire drum assembly and check. Also a bad connection with the drum unit. If that is not it you may have a high voltage problem. I would first pull out the drum and look for anything like a piece of paper inside with my flash light. Since it is less than 3 months old, I would take it back for warranty because if it is the drum or another problem you should not have to pay for it! http://www.tonerovernight.com

Brother HL-2070N Laser Printer Will Not Print

First of all, I checked the answers given here, but nothing worked; everytime I turned on the unit, the red light flashed that the printer was out of paper.

From the Brother's HL-2070 manual, in the troubleshooting section: take out the toner cartridge from the front of the machine (be careful, any black toner powder that come off may be very difficult to clean up). I took the toner cartridge to the sink.

There is a blue slide along the top of the unit that will clean the corona wire if you slide it back and forth, from one end to the other (toner/dust can become caked on the wire over time; sliding the slider back and forth simply knocks the caked off 'stuff' off of the wire).

Replace the toner cartridge; it worked fine for me. I was immediately able to print.

Brother HL 5250 red light flashing

I found this solution on the web-- Hope it helps.

The HL-2070N gets stuck in a toner end-of-life error condition. Perform the following to clear :
With paper loaded, new toner in,

Open front door
Turn off printer
While holding down the GO button, turn printer back on
When all four LEDs light up release GO button. All LEDs will turn off
Press the GO button 2 times. The 3 LEDs (toner, drum, paper) will light up solid
Press the GO button 5 times
Paper light will be blinking
At this point the toner end-of-life condition has been reset. Close front door.
BTW, I got this from Brother Support. Also, just a reminder, timing is important here so don't pause between button presses.

Replaced Drum in printer won't print

Unplug it then plug it back in and check for anything in the device. Or leave it unplugged for a few hours and try again.

HL-2070N will not properly print

My guess is the problem is with Firefox trying to print the page and not the printer. Try to go to File > Print Preview and see if it looks normal there. If not, I have 3 suggestions:
  1. Try to change the "Page Options" or "Scale" under the Print Preview
  2. Try to install and use the Firefox Add-On "IE Tab". This gives you the choice to display the page with Internet Explorer, while still using Firefox. You can turn on IE Tab, and then try to print. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419
  3. Upgrade to Firefox 3.

PAPER JAMS CONSTANTLY

Well, it might be theres something stuck in there. Pick it up and give it a few shakes. I work on printers, and not too long ago I found a wedding ring, paperclip, banana sticker and other things in printers. If that doesn't work, try going to staples and getting a laser cleaner kit. They're basically sheets coated to pick up any paper dust, or bits of paper that might be clogging the path
