Question about Philips 50P8341 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Projection tv is Blurry and offset

Believe it or not... i found a projection tv in the trash... it's a phillips magnavox, i cleaned out all the lenses; replaced the coolant in all lenses tv seems to work great. I bought a phillips universal remote that works allright. I adjusted the convergance until it seemed the best it could be the only problem i seem to be having now is... it seems a bit blurry, i can see blue green and a lil red offset from eachother at the top and bottom of the screen... its very noticeable on widescreen movies... i can actually see a green bend on top and bottom. the middle of the screen everything seems fine, also at the top and bottom the picture has a little bend to to it... if anyone could help me figure out how i could get this focused and sharp i would really appreciate it....

You have a focus and screen control box it has 3 controls on top 3on bottom these are the controls for Red-Green-Blue screen drives and for focus to each tube. IT should have Focus /Screen on it.

Blurry picture

You need to clean the projector lens on the optical engine using a soft cotton or, better yet, a chamois cloth. Also clean the mirror mounted inside the rear cabinet and also the front and rear of the screen itself.
If picture is still blurred then your the optical engine is most probably defective.
