Question about Kenmore 35912 / 35913 Progressive Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Intelliclean green light comes on almost immediately when using

I recently changed the bag in the vacuum. Seems like the light goes to all green very quickly even though I can see that it is not picking up all the dirt. Does the machine need to sense there is a new bag or do I need to clean/change the filter?

When you have it in sensor mode, it thinks the carpet is clean and goes to the low setting with the green light on. If you press the button twice though, it stays on the high setting the whole time, so that is how I get my carpets clean.

My Kenmore bagless intelliclean vacuum is making a loud noise mainly when it is vacuuming on the highest setting (when the light is red). We have taken it apart and cannot find a clog. It has also lost...

This might help, it was posted on a previous problem but is the same issue you are having it seems: "Here is a possible solution. If the vacuum sounds normal when the green light comes on, then the issue is a suction bypass. Kenmore built a suction bypass in to help cool down and protect the motor should someone either never clean the filter, empty the canister or somehow manage to clog the hose. There is a spring holding the bypass closed and is overridden by vacuum suction. I guess the spring becomes weak, allowing high suction to pull it open which in turn reduces suction so it closes again. It can do this several times per second making a loud racket and slightly affecting performance until the sensor goes green, then the vacuum suction is too low to overcome the spring tension thus why it sounds fine then. The trick? The very hard way (what I did) was to open the vacuum, open the casing where the spring is and pull it apart slightly to increase the spring tension. The easy way is to put tape over the hole where the bypass is. The inlet is under the hose track on the back on the right side as you're looking at it. The hole is about the size of a quarter and you'll see fins across the hole. The tape would keep the suction. The motor would still pull back the bypass but since tape is applied, there would be nothing to reduce the suction thus keeping performance and reducing the noise. However, this circumvents the intended design so you do so only at your own risk."

We changed to a new bag and changed the filter but everytime we turn it on it goes off and the green light turns red.

Try this. Detach hose from canister. Turn on. What happens?
If it runs, place hand directly over intake port. What happens?
If it shut off immediately, an internal part is broken and needs to be replaced. This is a repair that needs to be done at an authorized Aerus, new name for the Electrolux company that made these vacuums, service center.
It's also a problem that's seen a lot when generic "made to fit" bags are used. Genuine bags are made by Home Solutions and will have their name on it. Use of generic bags also voids the warranty. Which, depending on date of purchase, yours may still have on the canister itself with it's components.
Wiring and switch problems can also cause this, so the machine, including hose, wands, and power nozzle, should be taken to a service center for a complete check.

The vacuum won't turn on. plugged in, all lights flashing. no power

When switched on the vacuum goes through a self diagnosis test. Lights will come on for a while, then go out. If everything is okay, then the blue "Optimum" light will come on and stay on. If it turns of, a red indicator light should come on providing information on what's needed; i.e., filter or bag change needed.

Green light on power nozzle of Kirby vacuum, Model G7D

The green light is just to inform you that the brushroll is spinning. there is a magnet on the brushroll that makes the green light come on every time it rotates. also why it looks like the light flickers because the magnet only makes contact once per rotation of your brushroll. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The Intelliclean function isn't working properly. The indicators illuminate when I switch Intelliclean off, then on again, but the indicators are not changing (nor the power level) when I vacuum dirty...

I was having the same problem with my Intelliclean and I read somewhere on the internet that I should undo the bag, clean in the area where the bag attached to vacuum. When I took bag off, something was stuck there and after I removed it, everything worked fine. I think you need to clean the sensor and check your bag.
