It sounds bad, lol, here is wht you should do, go over to the AVG site, http://www.avg.com/, get either the free version or a trial on the home version, they have a version 8 that works great and is free, download it, then run your machine in safe mode, run the avg in safe mode and let it run it's course. if the program is a virus or trogen, it will be removed, safe mose is tap the f8 key as the machine starts into boot mode, tap, don't hold it down just tap it like a piano key, Good Luck

How has mcafee let vires that has totaly wreck my computer, and as i pay sky for mcafee my contract is with sky and not mcafee i have sent three emails and not had a reply yet

There is no such thing as a perfect anti-virus program. The very best of them will only catch about 92--95% of potential viruses that they scan. And if you happen to click on the wrong thing or go to the wrong web page that is all ti takes to get an infection.

Mcafee is actually a pretty good antivirus program. If it is updated with the latest virus signatures it should be able to catch and kill most viruses other than the very latest new ones. Those new ones if they are differant may not be recognized as a virus until the next update.

Until you hear from Sky? I would sugest you update mcaffee and run a boot scan if your version has that option. Make sure it is set to scan all files and archives. That should help if not clean out the virus.

Features of McAfee Antivirus

McAfee anti-virus features include anti-virus, anti-spyware tools, firewall software to protect your pc from all type of viruses and threats over the network. McAfee bundles a lot of features into its antivirus. Besides the classical protection features found in most antivirus products, McAfee also integrates a Silent Full Screen feature, which stops all antivirus notifications from being displayed while full screen applications are running, so it won't interfere with your work. The Secure File Shredder feature is another useful feature, which will allow you to permanently and totally delete confidential files, without leaving any traces of them and eliminating all recovery possibilities. It is also optimized for laptops, by integrating a battery-saving mode that will leave intensive scans that require more power and resources for later, when your laptop is plugged into an electricity source.

Some other features are "on access file scanner" - you can access the files while scanning them, "inbound and outbound firewall protection" - to monitor your incoming and outgoing traffic over the network, it can block any suspicious connection that can harm your computer, " spyware protection" - to detect and remove spywares in order to protect your pc and your personal data from hackers, " daily definition update "- this will help your protection software to have the most recent updated virus database, so that it can prevent newly added malicious codes spreading in your pc. Some other features are " McAfee X-Ray rootkit detection " this feature will detect rootkits and remove them, "McAfee Site Advisor " - displays a safety rating for websites based on tests for evidence of spam, malware and phishing, and " McAfee System Guards" - monitors a computer for activity that may be caused by virus infection or hacker activity.

When I click on my inbox I get a message that reads "we are sorry but your query looks similar to requests from a computer infented by viruses or spyware application" and goes on to say "we will restore...

maybe you have a malware on your computer. unfortunately some of the antivirus cannot detect some viruses, it happens to me also. but when i try to scan it using kaspersky or other antivirus i have detected viruses that im not even aware of. Or you can try installing a different browser, just to make sure that a virus doesnt infect your browser and display that kind of message. If problem still continues. I suggest reprogramming your pc.

I hope this works;
Thank You :)

McAfee not updating

Some files might have been corrupted somehow.

As per the error, you need to uninstall Mcafee and then reboot the computer. Then once your windows boots back, re-install Mcafee from the CD you purchased. That should solve any corruption problems.

Need help uninstalling? Click Start -> Run, then type appwiz.cpl and press enter. You will get the Add/Remove programs. Go down and select Mcafee Total Security and click on remove and follow the simple instructions on the screen.

Killwind.exe was found by McAfee. Dangerous? What now? Potentially harmful or benign? Bob Robey

Welcome to the world of useless HP resident exe files.
The only problem with that file is so many anti-virus softwares treat it as totally evil and there by gives you no end of grief. If you have no anti-virus software then it doesn't conflict with anything. But when you go to protect your HP product...problems occur. You would think that something that is designed to kill windows Terminate and Stay Resident programs (TSR that have no visual clue they are running in the background of the system) is a good thing until everything conflicts with it.

If you do not eliminate killwind MacAfee will continue to give problems.

Virus on computer

Mcafee is not always solution provider. Use Node32 or Kesperskey antivirus. But as u say a blue error screen is coming u better need to format your pc. Format it and reinstall new OS. It is good solution because if you wait for something then virus might have affected many of your files. Then it can harm your harddisk. So better you format it and then u will have gud access to internet. Next time you download some good antivirus and run it live during accessing internet.
