Ok your cat stepped on the button that shuts off the touch pad lol, around the edges there is a switch that turns it on and off, some shut it off when using a mouse, to avoid hitting both at once. Peace, Gym

First thing move your mouse to the top and something like a toolbar wiil show up and there should be an option called touchpad and you can easily disable it from there . I am a toshiba satellite user so you can trust me,

I took this off the toshiba forum

There is a keyboard combination on a Toshiba laptop - "Fn + F9".

What does this combination do? "ENABLE TOUCHPAD"

I feel like such a "user", LOL

That'll teach me to not read the manual.

My touchpad is not working on my acer aspire 5315 my cat walked over keyboerd when i was using it and curser has gone what can i do

Hi there,
Your Touchpad is disabled, thats why its not working, to enable again, simply press Fn+F7 Key, you will see a small blue icon on F7 key, with a finger pointing, its basically a short cut for enabling/disabling Touchpad,
If it doesnt works, restart your laptop once, and restore the BIOS settings to default, save the settings and reboot laptop, and it should be working again,
Feel free to reply to this post if you require more assistance,

Intermittantly the curser freezes then erratically moves around the screen by itself. I am unable to move or 'control' the curser so find it difficult to shut down to do a re-start. I usually have to hold...

Make sure that you are not placing the hand on the touchpad while typing.... This might be due to the drivers issue with the touchpad.. Try to unistall the drivers of touchpad from the device manager.. Then install a fresh copy from the dell website( If the issue is yet to be fixed please contact Acer to replace the touchpad....

When i type the curser puts the text all over the place- what is the apparent problem

If you are "cursing" at the "cursor", you are the "curser".

Keep your thumbs and palms away from the touchpad.
Sometimes, you don't have to make contact with the touchpad
for it to move the mouse.

Or, your computer has a computer-virus, and some hacker has "remote-control" of your computer, and is moving your mouse-pointer.

Acer aspire touchpad over sensitive

Your laptop should have software pre-installed for your touchpad. This should probably be in the Control Panel. Once you find the software there should be options to change the sensitivity. Hope I helped.

Touchpad on laptop

You should have a little icon in the right corner of your taskbar, right click on the touchpad icon and click enable.

If that does not work, right click on my computer icon, properties, hardwrae tab, device manager, look down list for mice and pointing devices, click on the + sign, select synaptics(if that's the make) and select uninstal.

Restart laptop and the drivers will automatically re install and should work as normal
