Reset ink level for HP 460

I refilled my inkjet cartridge but I need to turn off the "low ink" light on my HP deskjet 460 printer. I looked in all the software on my computer and in the manual but I cannot find where the procedure to turn off the low ink light is. This printer uses an HP 94 black cartridge and I do not use or have installed the color cartridge. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Edisonfrelan,

I did what you said and looked for anything that made reference to "ink settings" and found that I was able to adjust the amount of ink that is printed on the page only, there was nothing else about ink settings. Do you have any other advice?

There really is no "reset" for low ink light - it is driven by the software reading of the ink levels on the cartridge via the connections. Sometimes they may be dirty and this can be removed by carefully cleaning (preferably using electrical contact cleaner on printer and dry air on both) the contacts. But many times a refilled cartridge will give this error and no cleaning or other procedure seems to correct it. HP is doing their best to not allow refilled cartridges and are working on ways to prevent that.

Try this, if you are in a windows environment, click your start button, select control panel, then double click printer, then right click the name or model of your printer, then select properties, then select maintenance, and then select ink settings. thats it

The simple solution is to scrap any printer that won't let you refill your cartridges.
No lexmarks, No Epsons. None of the newer HPs,
Canon manuals have instructions on how to reset your printer and the quality is fantastic.
Brother doesn't use chips so there's not problem there.

If you want' to know more about how to select a printer go to your local refill store and ask what's working. They'll be delighted to help you select the best printer for your needs.

HP does not support refilled cartridges

HP 6940 Deskjet Low Ink

It is not uncommon for a refilled HP ink cartridge to register as empty. If it was otherwise filled properly, it should yield the correct number of pages, but you may not be able to get the warning light to go out.

You can try tapping the cartridge on a hard surface. This only works sometimes. Be careful not to splash any ink.

I hope this helps.

I used to refill the ink cartridge of HP Deskjet D1460 by injecting ink. The problem is the level of ink is not resetted to full level, its still very low level. However, the printer prints normally

Close the top left pin at head contactor (1 pin only), with tape. Plug it in head carriage. Unplug it. Close to top rigtht with tape too. Plug the head. Unplug head. Remove all the tape cleanly. Plug again. See ink monitor.

How to reset ink cartridges after refilling them

Go to the following website and download the freeware InkMonitor 2.1.2: http://www.pokluda.cz/. You have to add data about new cartridge. HP60 ink cartridge information, 200 pages per cartridge. This works great for me. It gives you a history of everything printed. This way you can gauge when its time to refill your cartridges. You must refill before they run out of ink or you will burn out the print heads and have to replace them.

Printer not move

Your cartridge must be out of ink. If it is a refilled one then don't worry, just ignore the message if it is printing well. This occurs because once the sensor inside the cartridge senses low ink it will show the message, even after refilling because resetting the sensor of refilled cartridges is a complicated process and the message will appear till you reset the ink level sensor inside the cartridge.

Hp 5150 deskjet says that it is low on color ink

The low ink warning is actually normal for remanufactured cartridges. Since the printer cannot detect the amount of ink in the cartridge, the OEM companies place a chip inside of each cartridge that counts the number of pages that you print. When the cartridges reach a certain number of pages, they automatically tell your printer that you are running low on ink. Unfortunately, when the cartridges are remanufactured, the chip is unable to be reset. The prints should still be the same quality. You can either press the "Resume" or "OK" button to continue printing, or go into your printer settings and manually disable the ink level indiactor.

I have a new HP Deskjet F4280 bought 3 weeks ago & the blank ink cartridge was empty & I refilled it in a store & placed it back but printer recognise that the cartridge is empty & it does not have a chip.

You cannot reset the ink level for the HP 60 ink cartridge. Simply ignore the ink level indicator if you refill your cartridges. It is only an estimate of the ink level anyway. See pg 72 of the user manual.
