Question about Kitchen Ranges

Open Question

I have a Carlton C60FX built in oven that is only coming up for two years old. It has now decided it isn't going to cook my christmas turkey. The grill works fine and the fan blows, but the oven just won't heat up. Please please someone come back with a quick solution so i can get onto this asap. With christmas barely a week away i am not even sure i will be able to get any part that is needed before then. A contact phone number for Carlton manufacturers would be great

SOURCE: Kenwood microwave (KEN GJ/SS25) heating doesn't work but grill works

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose conneciton on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

I think you will find that it is the oven element that has shorted, causing the trip to go. The fan will still work, but with no heat.
Remove inner rear panel of oven, there you will see the element.
Remove and replace.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

How long do you cook a turkey in a Hamilton Beach roaster oven and what temperature

Hello Angela Couch,

You treat the Roaster like any other oven...
Off the TOP OF MY HEAD...

More importantly... The TURKEY must be thawed properly to be cooked properly.

I FIGURE 23 to 25 minutes per pound at
325° F... If Stuffed add a of pound of cooking time for each pound added by stuffing

Monitor closely with your MEAT THERMOMETER...!!
Your turkey is done when the temperature with a meat thermometer is 180° F in thigh and 165° F in chest or stuffing.

Take your instructions from the TURKEY...
(Altered appropriately by STUFFED or NOT
STUFFED) and backed up with a good
QUALITY meat thermometer...!!

I have a 24 pound turkey that I want to cook in the roaster oven over night. Can this be done and how?

You can, but cooking overnight will ruin the turkey. The bird will be overcooked and literally fall apart. The term is called 'cooking to rags'. The bre asttt meat will be very dried out.

Unstuffed is only 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Stuffed is 5 to 5 1/2 hours. I only stuff the neck end. Another tip is to cook the turkey bre asttt down. If you do it that way, all the juices from the fattier part of the turkey, the legs and thighs bastes the bre asttt as it cooks. If you cook it this way once, you will do it every year. Turn the bird over to carve it once it has rested for 20 minutes. Tent it with foil. Put folded foil over the wings. I am a trade masterchef.

I have a 30 qt pot, cooking a 18 lb turkey. placed turkey in pot and added water. amount required is above maximum limit level. Can I exceed?

If you are frying it, no you can't. As moisture comes out of the turkey, it will cause the fat to boil over.

You say you 'added water'. You are making boiled turkey for Thanksgiving? You could, but not the same.

I have two suggestions.
Cook traditionally in the oven. I am a chef and have cooked my turkeys breas t side down for a bout 20 years. The result is a much moister breas t on the turkey.

or

Split the turkey and deep fry in two batches.

The word breas t is considered as profanity on Fixya. Please review your answer and try again.

Can you cook a stuffed turkey in the roater oven

Yes, similar timewise to a regular oven. But it depends on the size of the turkey, if stuffed you definitely want to check the fit- you need about an inch all around including the top to get good cooking. Any place it touches the sides it will tend to overcook.

The Rival manual suggested 375 for pre basted or 350 for fresh 9-14 minutes per pound. In my experience this is too hot. I use 325 for 4 to 4 3/4 hours at 325 for an 18 pound unstuffed turkey; a 21 pounder takes about 35-45 minutes more. The USDA now uses 165 as the end point temp (down quite a bit from a few years ago), but if you stuff, that has to be in the middle of the stuffing, and the turkey will overcook somewhat while it gets there. It adds about 1-2 minutes per turkey pound if stuffed.

All experts agree that turkeys cook better and safer if unstuffed, so considering that you will have to make an extra pan of stuffing to have it for everyone, you would be well advised to cook your turkey unstuffed and use some of the drippings to flavor the pan of stuffing while the turkey rests.

Breaker flipped on my oven while cooking a turkey

If the oven was still slightly warm to the touch when you came home is probably fine. 45 minutes was not enough time to get the turkey hot down near the bone, so if it was cool I would discard it. But if you were lucky and it was still warm, go ahead.

Big 18 pound turkey and no manual

Place turkey on trivit in roaster and add 2 cups oof water. place lid on roaster and seal edge with foil. Preheat oven to 500 degrees.  Place in oven for one hour and turn oven off and go to bed.  Turkey will cook while temperature is coasting down.  Turkey will be still warm in the morning.  We have been doing this for several years and always comes out golden brown and juicey.  Do not stuff bird while cooking.

Hi.
If your oven is less than a year old, then you should contact the store where you purchased it from or contact the manufacturers service department , as it should still be under guarantee.
Hope you get your problem solved.

16Qt Roaster oven

Dear Lunders

I cannot recommend cooking a turkey in a crockpot for many reasons. I have always cooked turkeys at 200/225 degrees in the oven overnight. The secret is to seal the roaster with heavy duty foil with maybe a cup of water in the roaster, bake the bird upside down. Turn it over, increase the temperature, and uncover it for an hour before serving. Worked for me for 40 years, and the guests never complained.
