Still making ice but making a very loud sound like a Harley Davidson is sitting in my kitchen. The sound will stop periodically or I can make it stop temporarily by turning the machine off, then back on. Soon, however the Harley returns. Sometimes it sounds more like a distant chain saw - also a comforting sound. Does anyone have any ideas?
Re: standalone icemaker sounds like a Harley Davidson
Check and make sure you don't have a piece of scale in the intake of the waterpump. the pump stops when the unit goes into defrost to dump the ice onto the cutter grid. also check the fan under the icemaker for lint buildup on the condensor

Is your supply line plastic or copper? If its plastic then that can absorb a smell. There is nothing in the icemaker that would make it smell. You may need to replace the supply line and the inlet line that feeds the icemaker. Is there a smell in the kitchen faucett?
You have 2 screws on the side wall. 3 screws on the bottom of the mold. You will need to remove the back panel and unhook the wires and pull the sensor wire out from behind the icemaker. Sensor just sits in tube. Then go back in front and turn the icemaker towards the center. you will have to clean the alumalastic off. Where old cloths to do this.
I hope the helps you. Make sure the icemaker you have looks the same as the old one.
Get scouring pad (green pad) from supermarket and remove cutting try. Use pad and cleaning solution to really scrub the evaporator tray until slippery clean. Use forward to backward strokes, not left to right. Clean all surfaces of freezing tray and that should help.
OK. Forget the board. what you hear is the pump running when the unit is off. It sounds like a drain is kinked and the pump is shutting it down for safety. Also when this unit starts it will dump early for a couple of cycles before the ice gets normal size. Run the icemaker and unplug the pump in your water trough to make sure it has a frost pattern all the way thru.(takes 5 min)If not it could be a leak it the sealed system. Remember when you adjust the setting on the board this will take 5 cycles before you see any changes. And 24 hours for more consistant ice.
sounds like the ice is not releasing from the freeze plate before the waterpump comes back on. you can turn off icemaker - dry the plate with a towel - take fine steelwool and go up and down on the tray until all discoloration is removed and the plate is shiney - empty bin - flush plate and bin - turn back on and see if ice falls onto cutting grid either right before or right after waterpump comes on.
not familuar with the brand but sounds like one of 2 issues
if it is overfilling making ice cubes larger than normal, adjust the ice maker fill time if it is possible
icemaker fills and cuts off but water valve seeps water after the fill causing the water overfill
one of the 2
