Bought 1g sd card but when i put it in, takes ages to switch modes and will not format. stil showing no card icon. so took sum pics using internal memory, uploaded them to pc and now camera screen is white and wont do anything. only had camera for 1wk. belonged to a friend who never used it so it is really new.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Take the memorycard out of the phone and,
put it in a computer.Use filesystem FAT-32
to reformat your memorycard.

have you tried to format the card on the computer first. This seems to be a comon problem and can be fixed if you first format the card on a computer then reinsert it and also check that the tiny cardswitch on the side is not in the lock position that is if it has one. usually a small black slide switch.
