My rav4 has started to make a wheezing/high pitch noise and then starts to over heat. The noise will start when I am at a stop or almost at a stop. Sometimes even continues to do it after I turn the car off. I have coolant in the car. I'm wondering it could be that the coolant is not flowing to the radiator? Or is my Thermostat broken? Those are the only 2 things I can think of. Any thoughts?

It could be your Coolant Temperature Sending Unit, check it because I had that exact SAME problem almost. My car would "overheat" after just a short time of running and could not be restarted till it "cooled off" after about an hour or so...it's only about $20 to get a new one and takes a few minutes to replace it. Also, if your check engine light is on, make sure you go to get that code read FOR FREE. Autozone/Advance Auto, ETC...some places will read it for free because they expect your business (where else can you really get auto parts?)...other places, especially dealerships, charge you because they might not get your business...a small fix.

Check your brake pads first,as they have a wear warning clip on them.so if you hear a loud screaming noise. Then its quite possible they have worn causing ur warning lights to come on.And i would get anouther quote as that is quite dear for a pump replacement. If it is the pump.good luck pippall!!

you've got a possible blockage in the head or block.

Yes if it hydraulically operated it could be because the pump for the fan is bad. If I am not mistaken the fan is run off of the power steering pump correct. check and make sure the pump is working correctly. I have not seen a hydraulic motor on a car I know they put them on a lot of diesel trucks like humvees and some Chevy diesels but not on a car. Most are usually electrical. I know on humvees with a hydraulic fan they have a fan controller check this and make sure it is working right you can unplug the controller and the fan should stay ingaged and turn faster.

Clean your battery cable connections and your battery posts with some emery cloth. Make sure the battery clamps are tightly secured to the battery and that the other end of each battery cable is securely fastened. Once you have it started drive it to any auto parts store to have the battery and the charging system tested. You may find that you need a new battery.

Also, I am NOT seeing any smoke when it over heats. My arrow goes up past the H [Hot] on the thermostat.
