Question about Canon PIXMA MP170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Canon INkjet MP170 not recognising cartridges

I refilled my ink cartridges and when I click them back into place the warning light stays on and the screen says check cartridges, both coloyr and black. When I try to print the message on my computer says it does not recognise the ink cartridges, like they are either not installed (but I know they are installed correctly) or they are not the correct type (but they are the ones I took out).

I placed a re-filled ink cartridges in my canon mp140 printer and

Computer chips in cartridges must be reset before the printer will recognize them as full. If you paid a shop to refill your cartridges take them back and complain. The best places will test the refilled cartridge before giving it to you.

Please note durability of prints using cheap ink is usually very poor, and as a result the manufacturers ink is usually much the better choice.

PIXMA MP170

I got that same message and, in desperation, read the manual. It turns out I had skipped the last step in installing the ink cartridge: "Push up on the cartridge until it clicks into place". When I opened the printer back up and pushed the cartridges up, they did indeed click into place, and the error went away.
