192.168.1.1 is address for default gateway. u can use an address start from 192.168.1.2 till 192.168.1.254 but you cant use 192.168.1.1 as primary address. this my advice: if u use some computer connect to routers then set the address start from 192.168.1.2. subnet mask will automatically filled by 255.255.255.0, then fill each computer default gateway by 192.168.1.1.
You can try check if you have any special function keys on your computer that allow you to disable the screen image or simply put it to another output port. Just like you would do if you would like to connect you pc to and external video projector.
I had similar problem with my netbook, and on my case a BIOS update solved the problem.

If the popup you're getting is from something like "MS Antispyware 2009" or similar, that's the same trouble I've seen on several other computers. Download a removal tool called ComboFix. You can find information on how to use it and links to download it here. This is a handy tool even if the virus you have is different as it will fix a number of virus and trojan problems. ComboFix can be run in safe mode if your computer can't start all the way into Windows. Turn your computer on, and when you see the Gateway logo screen press the F8 key. This will give you a startup menu screen from which you can pick starting in safe mode. This prevents Windows from loading everything except the minimum stuff it needs to start. Run ComboFix and let it repair the troubles it finds.
