Hi escada48036,

Sorry to hear about the problems your having with your Shark. One of our experts, heatman101 wrote a tip we have in our files. Here is the webpage for the tip: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5859780-euro_pro_shark_steam_mop_problem

Copy and paste this into your browser and the page will open up for you.

In the tip he describes pulling off the attachment and finding a small hole that comes out of the tank and leads to the hose. From your description, this sounds like what is plugged up. I think once you clear that, steam should flow through fine.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Shark Euro Pro Steamer

Hi, you could try the following steps, if you have not done so already. Some of these steps may seem like common sense, but it's for people to forget about checking the least expensive part to replace first, so if some of the steps are those that you have already tried, then feel free just to skip through to the ones you have not tried already.
  1. 1
Make sure the power cord is plugged firmly into the outlet. The steam mop will not start if it the power cord is loose.
  2. 2
Check the fuse box or circuit breaker connected to the outlet the steam mop is plugged in to. Replace any blown fuses. Reset any tripped breakers.
  3. 3
Check the water tank if the Shark steam mop will not produce steam. Add water to the tank if it is empty. The mop will not make steam without water in the tank. To fill the tank, turn the tank cap counterclockwise and lift it up to remove it. Set the filling funnel into the tank opening. Pour water through the funnel into the tank until the water level reaches the "Max" fill line on the tank. Replace the cap.
  4. 4
Inspect the microfiber cleaning pad if the steam mop is leaving water on the floor. If the microfiber pad is too wet, it will leave water on the floor. Unplug the mop from the wall outlet. Replace the microfiber cleaning pad. To replace the pad, move the latch strips out of the hooks on the mop head. Pull the pad off. Set the new cleaning pad on the mop head. Hook the latch strips onto the hooks on the mop head.
  5. 5
Use distilled water if the steam mop is leaving white spots on the floor. Hard water may cause white spots to be left.
If none of the above work, then is it something that you purchased recently, and is new? If you did, then it could still be fixed under the manufacturer's warranty regardless of whether or not the original length of the warranty has expired. This could be due to the fact that you have received a product that has some sort of manufacturing fault, rather than it stop working through misuse by the user.
If it's a common problem, then you will more then likely be able to return it to the manufacturer and have it replaced for a new one, let alone repaired :-) - This only applies to whether or not the item is New though :-).
Hope this info helps

Shark Steam Pocket Mop Cleaning Problems

After watching Shark Steam Pocket Mop from the vantage point of Fixya.com for a few months and seeing the many problems that people were having with the Shark Steam Mop streaking their floors and especially hardwood or laminate flooring I decided to do some research and reading about this problem.

What I found was very interesting.

Many people are blaming the steam mop for their problems, when in fact the problem is just coming to light because of the use of the steam mop. It seems that if other cleaners have been used on the floors they leave behind a residue. Then you come along with this mop that produces a heated steam type cleaning and you start to take this residue off of the floors. This then leaves the flooring blotchy or streaking.

So now what do you do with you floors when you get this mop and what will cure your streaking, blotchy floors? There are a couple of ways....

First way is to just keep on using the mop. Many people report that their persistence has paid off and that after a few uses the shine comes back to their floor as the old scum and residue is more completely removed.

The second way is to use a vinegar and water solution to manually clean the flooring before using the mop. This takes a bit more elbow grease, but will get the floor looking really sharp much quicker. Here is a site that tells about that.

So if you are having a heart attack because your mop seems to be making things worse instead of better then don't give up too quickly!! Use it a few times first... it has a 1 year warranty. Or get on your knees with that pail of vinegar water and get the old gunk from all those other cleaners off of your floor first.

I pumped my steam mop to get started as I always do. I heard a loud pop and now it won't produce steam and leaks water on the floor.

I was mopping with mine a couple months ago when it stopped producing steam. I pumped it several times resulting in a really loud pop (sounded like a .22 going off) followed by a large release of steam from the housing followed by water trailing on the floor. I immediately attributed it to an overpressurization and either a housing or hose failing.

Well several months later and enough nagging from my wife, I finally delved into it. I removed the housing screws from the back side (about 8 small recessed screws). After some wrestling with the housing to free it, I was able to examine the inside. I quickly found the issue. The hose that comes off of the top of the steam chamber and goes to the mop head had indeed failed (presumably from a blockage of sediment / calcium). The hose ruptured right at the top where it connects to the steam chamber where I found about a 1/4" hole.

I was able to remove the hose. I found a long spring inside the hose. (I'm guessing it is to try to prevent blockages.) I blew threw the hose and a good size cloud of a white powdery substance came out. I ran the spring back and forth inside the hose to ensure there were no other obstructions. Fortunately the failure occured close enough to the end of the hose that I was able to trim off the rupture and resecure it with the spring clamp.

I put everything back together and now it works perfectly again. Distilled water from now on (we're on a community well system) and an occasional flush with vinegar should prevent it from happening again.
