Best thing is to pull the radio out and check the red and yellow wires red wire is the egnition switch and your yellow is the always on for your memory if you like you can connect the red and yellow wires to the yellow one that will work with engine on or off but every time you get out the car you will need to turn the radio off manually i sugest pulling the radio out and checking the 2 leeds as far as you can it could also be a fuse gone but it wouldnt work when enging is off so not sure except check the wires your engition switch doesnt play up does it like your dash clocks go off and on while driving headlights etc? need more information please

To test radio to see if its working you can bench test it. This means to combine red and yellow and run to 12V positive and Black to 12V negative. IF radio turns on, it would mean its working.

Have a 1996 Toyota Camery. Installed a KDG140 JVC stereo/CD player but the stereo won't work. CD player works great.

If "stereo won't work" refers to you not being able to get radio stations; try your antenna connection behind the radio. The vehicle may also have a power antenna connection(blue wire at the stereo).

My JVC car stereo will let me listen to the radio but when i put in a cd it wont play and 00:0000 AY flashes constantly. It started a week ago... have i pressed a wrong button?

I had the same problem, it occurred after my battery had run flat. To fix it you need to reset the unit. To do this, remove the clip-off fascia, and on the main body of the unit there small hole, just to the left of the connector. Push a narrow pointed object such as a pen nib into this hold until you feel the click. The unit is now reset and should be working properly. You'll have to retune your saved radio stations, but the cd player should now be working.

I attach my new ipod touch to my JVC car stereo and the screen displays CANNOT PLAY. What is my problem?

Are you attaching it via usb on the deck or aux? Because if it is via usb the touch is probably not supported.

Speakers have died?

Probaby the stereo decoder IC went bad or a supply voltage to it is too low or noisy. If it has audio output jacks on the back of the TV, connect it to an external amplifier and see what that sounds like. If it is ok in stereo or mono mode then the amplifier in the TV is bad. This will prove that the stereo decoder is ok.

If your unit is a "flip face" design then I would suspect that the flat ribbon cable that goes between the flip face and the main board has lost at least one of the leads and that the cable needs to be replaced. Try Partstore.com for a replacement. Good luck.
