Question about iLO DVDR05 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Disc compatability My DVR won't accept Sony brand DVD+R discs. I can format the disc for use, but when I go to record, I get the following message: "This disc may not be written for it is not in the supported media list." The speed compatability is 1x - 16x. Memorex and Maxell brands work fine, but the Sony brand won't. Should I try updating the firmware? Thank you.

Re: Disc compatability

Why upset yourself?,my friend, you are going to get the "Electroncoodies" Use the brand [Memorex & Maxell] that works.

My Philips DVD Recorder does not accept a DVD disc shows no disk. The DVD disc does not revolve. A CD disc revolves but shows junknown

Could be that you are using the wrong type of DVD ? There are two formats DVD+R, DVD+RW etc and DVD-R, DVD-RW etc. Some machines are capable of using either, others can use one of the two formats.
My other suggestion is that some machines are picky about which manufacturer's DVDs they will use.

Cant get pre-recorded disc's to play in my recorder it comes up with the message "this disc will neither play or record" any ideas?

the reason the recorder comes up with the message "this disc wont play or record" simply is that the format of the disc is not compatible with the player.

1. check the format of the recorded disc,
2. and check the formats the recorder can play to confirm this.

take care

Can't record on dvd+rw disc what kind of disc do I need Thank You

There might be a firmware upgrade to allow this I would use DVD-R for full compatibility however DVD+R media from Philips is increasing in compatibility with most NON Philips and Sony players.

You might try taking the cover off and then VERY GENTLY use a q-tip swab to brush off the laser lens. Sometimes a little dust or dirt is enough to keep it from detecting the disc.

Not recognizing DVD player

i would say for some reason your dvd player is not compatible from now on with that brand of blank dvd!

get the firmware update from the brand website all you do is download the file burnit on a cd and put it in the dvd player should fix most and eventual problems
