Either the motor or the main control board (could be both) has a serious problem.

While holding it, turn the knob to the 7 o'clock position.

Try this a couple times.
It should clear the fault code but if the control board or motor is still faulty, it will see it and show the code again.

Problem with washing maschine temperature control knob

It depends on whether the knob is slipping or that the contacts are working within. Please check and see if the controls can be moved further and the temperature cuts off earlier than 90. If so the control and the thermocouple is working and the external knob needs to be replaced

F 21 appears on panel

Hi, This sounds like the motor brushes need replacing, but its possible that the machines control circuitry has been upset by mains surges or spikes, so try the following to reset the machine first....

1. Turn the appliance knob to the off or reset position, (12 o'clock)

2. Turn the knob to the 6 o'clock position.

3. Press and hold the spin button & while holding it, turn the knob to the 7 o'clock position, keep holding the spin button and then release it after about 5 seconds, now turn the appliance knob back to off.

Hopefully when you turn the machine back on it will have reset the error and you can continue to use the machine.

If the machine goes back to F21 after a program has been started then it is most likely the motor brushes need replacing or you have a faulty motor drive module.

Hope this helps

Midge.

F 21 keeps flashing and the machine is stalled and wont spin even after cleaning filter?

F21 relates to a motor or control board fault.

However, it is also caused by spikes in the mains and can be spurious.

To reset it.

Turn the appliance knob to the off or reset position, 12 o'clock.

Turn the knob to the 6 o'clock position.

Press and hold the spin button.

While holding it, turn the knob to the 7 o'clock position.

Continue holding the spin button for about 5 seconds.

Release the button.

Turn the knob to off.

When your turn it back on it should have cleared the error code

Ariston A1635 Margherita Control knob spinning

According to the instruction book - it appears the machine has been stopped mid cycle then re-started.
Switch machine off, turn control knob to a solid circle symbol (they are after every set cycle). Switch machine back on and lights will flash and program is reset. You can then select wash cycle as normal.

Won't stop filling with water

Does the water continue to run when the washer is unplugged from power?  If it does, then there is something stuck in the inlet valve that is keeping it open.  Could be the result of mineral deposits.  If the water stops when unplugged then the water limit switch is defective.  Unlikely since the water still flows when control knob is in off position.
