Hazy, washed out picture on Magnavox 51mp6100d

I'm at my girlfriend's parent's house for the holidays and they have a Magnavox 51mp6100d/37 rear projection TV with a horrible picture. Objects on the screen have halos around them and the on-screen adjustments don't do anything for this issue. I've called customer support which was less than helpful. How do I open up the TV and what can I clean inside and how? Also, where can I find a replacement lamp and how can do I do that?

Ok, I do have a better picture after cleaning and adjusting the internal controls, however I've found out that there is something very wrong with the blue lens/bulb. When the red and green lights where on by themselves, the picture was defined. However, when the blue was on by itself, I could hardly see any picture at all. The halos are all blue. I've adjusted everything on the black box as well as unscewing the wing nut and adjusting the lens manually. Is there something wrong with the bulb that I can replace? Is something wrong with the lens?

Remove back see if you can get to tubes top lenses clean all 3 from dirt/dust/ After cleaning off lenses there is a black control box has 3 controls on top 3 on bottom these are to adjust each tube R-G-B Tubes screen/ focus adjust one tube at a time--- Like to adjust red turn g,b.screen drive off turn red up adjust focus to a clear picture ,then green same and blue If you turn screen up to much it will either shut off or you will see Drive lines adjust back down.OK after doing this turn color off in menu adjust all 3 screen controls untill you have Black and white picture try to adjust as close as you can to get bl/wt picture when that is done now turn color on and you should have alot better picture.

I started to tell you blue was more then likely to be very weak or bad .Replace tube and you will have a nice picture on tv then! So it turns out that my answer is a Fixya rating.

Sound

Bill,
That's a DPTV585 chassis I believe and there are no known common problems with the audio circuit. Does the volume bar still come on-screen when you change the audio level? When you turn it up high is there any faint sound or static noise you can hear? Any possibility it's just muted?
Try unplugging the unit for 15 minutes and plug it back in and see if the audio returns. That will reset the micro in case that's simply latched up and confused over what command(s) it was given. And let me know.
