Question about Canon CanoScan 3000F Flatbed Scanner

Open Question

Only works on negatives - can no longer scan photographs

I had to re-install Windows XP (done lots of times) and for some reason can't get the scanner to work properly. I have finally got it to work on negatives, but when I try to scan photos, i get a mainly blue screen with red, black and yellow lines at random points. I am assuming the bit that scans photos is in the base of the scanner (the negatives use the top) so can my problem be with the base? I did put a thick document in there to test it initially, could this have caused my problem? Any help greatly appreciated.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Scanning negatives on CanoScan 600F, I get an error message "Cannot write or read. 252.0.0"

The Canon support site is the place to go for that if your Manual does not tell you.
However remove the software and reload it - it may be as simple as that.

SOURCE: Grayblue Background on scans

A color scan will give real output as it is. If the background is grey, the output will also be grey. If you select 256 Color output, there may be small change in color, as compared to the original. If you select grey output, all colors will be converted to Grey. If these files are converted to PDF, it will be same, except in ODF format.

If you select B&W you can save the file in TIFF format. Unlike grey or color, each pixel can be either black or white only. To scan in black and white you must select right brightness. By doing os you can eliminate background (technically noise) and capture foreground(data)

SOURCE: colour change

In the Advanced tab for the scanner software, there is a tab labeled Color/Colour. On this tab, select the "Reset" button. This should return all color adjustment options to their default setting. If this does not resolve the issue, you may want to try reinstalling the software, but there is also a possibility that the unit itself has some problems.

SOURCE: The documents are scanned but dont appear on later inspection, or if they do they are just a horizontal line across the middle

Try the version that came with the scanner Mine Was 3.0.1250.336 and is more stable than the new one.

My Canoscan lide 700f will no longer scan negatives

Hello try to reinstall the software for the scanner from here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/scanners/film_negative_scanners/canoscan_lide_700f#DriversAndSoftware

Please select your windows system 32 or 64 bit.
Download the driver and uninstall the old software before you install the new.

Canon does make an driver upgrade once a while to fix previous problems with the software.

Hope this will help you

Driver for Windows 7 and HP Scanjet 4470c

Hi ,
There are no drivers running under Windows Seven for this unit.

If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD ( http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0 )
You could also partition your HDD (
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html ) and install W XP on the new one .

BUT :

Here is a workaround :

Make sure driver XP ( yes , XP ) is correctly installed . Then , go to http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html and install FreeKapture , it's free .
Load FreeKapture , clic on Scan and select WIA Hewlett-Packard . Scanner works fine in this mode . If you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will hang .
In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works .

Regards ,

Thank you for visiting FixYa .

I have installed scanner and disc but cannot find how to use it.I found the test box and that works but now how do I scan?thanks

Canon and other Scanners have both hardware and software buttons to scan documents and photographs.
Scanning with a computer is done with a destination in mind. So the buttons and the software are associated with destinations.
Typical destinations are File, email, Application, and print.
In a simple scan process for copy or print, the item is placed face down on the scanner, then the print button is pressed on the front of the scanner.
The software for the scanner pops up on the screen and the scanner moves the imaging light across the scanner under the glass, reading the item on the scanner. The software sends the image to the default printer and it prints a copy.

You will need to setup your preferences in the software so that a photograph is scanned properly and a newspaper article is scanned to come out clear black and white.
Documents are best saved as PDF files and photographs as TIFF files.
The software will have an expert mode where you can change all the settings and a beginner mode where you let the software decide.
Canon has a great document for your scanner. If it is not on the disk, here is the link. It is called CanoScan 4200F Scanning Guide. I think it will help you to use the scanner for any task.

Scanning 35mm negs on my Epson Stylus PHOTO RX620

Try using a slightly off-white background sheet behind the negative (glass-negative-sheet-scanner lid) first, or a "frame" around the negative that is anything but white... some scanners have an auto-detect feature that may be skewed for one reason or another.

Another trick, from a photographer friend, is to take saran wrap or another transparent but non-reflective material and place as a filter between the negative and glass, thus reducing glare. The sharpness may be lessened, but the glare is also lessened...

Hope this helps!

Anyone dealt with a A99HW 35mm film scanner

Have you installed the software and running the scanner through the software?
Please see the FAQ below
Alan (20/08/2009)4-stars-small.gifThis works well scanning negatives when I eventually got it working on my Windows XP computer, the problem is the drivers, so did a search and found them here External link removed. The link can be requested via our technical department directly you need the one for XP only (FS-C1-VP). I also used an earlier version of Photo Impression6. I hope this is of help to many who have failed to get it running properly

So contact Maplin Tech support and they should be able to point you in the right direction of downloadable drivers or the correct procedure for installation and use.

Scanning negatives

Are you saying
The scanner worked with negative with XP but not with Vista?
Uf so this is a drver problem
Two thing to try- 1, Go to Programs/Accessories/system Tools Compatability Wizard and rest to XP then try.
Or 2 Google for suitable Vista Driver
