Hi, try to check your pc's cmos setup on boot sequence, you would be needing to set the sequence to boot the system on CD drive first then your hardrive; then disable boot virus protection - this will make your OS installation with no interruption. Then save your cmos changes. you have to put your operating system program installer on your cd drive then watch the message to boot from your cd drive. hope this helps.

How can i format me computer by myself?

You have to format your hard drive using a third party disc to erase everything on your hard drive

Restart your computer during the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS then using the arrow keys scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

Note this will erase you operating system you will have to have an operating system disk to load it onto you hard drive or create a partition to load another operating system

Note after you have loaded the operating system you should go back and change the first boot device to failsafe or optimised defaults after windows has loaded

your computer will automatically restart it might restart 2 times one to finish the installation
the next will be because the operating system is loaded and will boot from your cd

How to format the hard disk ? here are the ways

what is hard disk? hardisk is an internal storage device by which we can store the data and also get back the data when we needed. hardisk is like a grama phone. you can create a partition on it also. so here are some tips how to format your hard disk. 1) plug in your hardisk by a external cable and wait for while to install the drivers . and then just double click on my computer and right click on the drive letter which you want to format and then hit format. now you have a option there select ntfs and defail and you have one more option called perfome quick format . if you click on this the formating will done quickly . and then start. done.
2) right click on my computer goto manage goto disk management and there you can see the drive letter just right click on it and format it . you can also remove the partion or create partion from there.
3) insert the xp boot disk and follow the instrucktion and after that you will get an option to select drive . just click on it and hit format . you have two types of formating ( quick) and full.
4) insert the win98 boot disk or insert hiren's boot disk and then go to dos ( for hiren boot disk only) after you completly boot from cd rom then you have an A:\ drive . this is called RAM drive. just write the command FDISK and hit enter and then Y and hit enter and then 4 to display partion. you can create a new partion from here also. after making any kind of changes you have to restart the pc . after restarting A:\ will appear. write down the command FORMAT C:\ and hit enter and Y thats it.
there are many ways to format your drives. there are lots software also available in the market to format it. but the best way is 4) because it do the slow formating and also recover the allocation unit.

Formatting a hard drive to erase its contents does not mean the files are necessarily gone forever. Using data-recovery software, someone still could retrieve sensitive data and files from your hard drive even after you've formatted it. Instead of simply formatting your hard drive, use disc-cleaning software to permanently erase its contents. Disc-cleaning programs work by repeatedly overwriting the contents of a hard drive with random data patterns, making it virtually impossible to recover the original files. Download and install the freeware program Active@ KillDisk (see Below). http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm Click the Windows "Start" button and select KillDisk from the "All Programs" list. Click the check box next to the hard drive you want to erase in the "System Local Disks" menu. Press the "Kill" button. Select the erasing method you want to use from the "Erase Method" drop-down menu. Active@ recommends using the "US DoD 5220.22-M" method. Click "Start" to begin erasing the hard drive. Download and install the freeware program Hard Drive Eraser (see Below). http://www.harddriveeraser.org/ Click the Windows "Start" button and select Hard Drive Eraser from the "All Programs" list. Check the radio button next to the hard drive you want to erase under "Select Drive to Erase." Select the erasing method you want to use from the "Shredding Scheme" drop-down menu. The developers of Hard Drive Eraser recommend "DoD 5220-22 M" Press the "Start" button to begin erasing the hard drive. Download and install Iolo DriverScrubber (see Below). Click the "Windows" Start button, "All http://www.iolo.com/ds/3/ Programs" and then the DriverScrubber program icon. Click "Wipe all contents of a drive," and then click "3.5-Inch Floppy Disk." Insert a blank floppy disk and click "Next." Restart your computer with the floppy disk still inserted. Your computer will boot directly to DriveScrubber. Press the down arrow on your keyboard to highlight the hard drive you want to format in the "Available Physical Drives" menu. Press the space bar to select the hard drive. Press "Enter" to continue. Press the down arrow to highlight "Seven Overwrites" in the "Available Data Wiping Methods" menu, and then press the space bar to select it. Press "Enter" to continue. Press "CTRL," "ALT," "Shift" and "W" at the same time to wipe the hard drive. Hope this helps.

I had got my comp formated once befor with windows

I will be happy to assist you with your problem

To format your computer back please follow the steps given

  • Backup. Just to be on the safe side in case you find that you have made a mistake of forgot to save something, you should always backup your data before formatting or wiping your disk clean. You can either copy your data files on to a CD or a flash drive or another hard drive.
  • Step 2 Restart. Shut down your computer and hit the appropriate key to go into your BIOS. A message will appear as the computer starts up telling you which key to hit to enter the BIOS (sometimes called Setup). Once in the BIOS, you need to go through the different sections until you find one that says something like "boot device order". Once in this menu use the appropriate labeled keys to select CD-ROM as the first boot device. Exit the BIOS and be sure to select save by pressing key f10. If your computer does not restart, please restart it again with your Windows XP CD in the CD drive.
  • Step 3 Start the setup. After Windows starts up it will display a message that says "press any key to boot from CD", press any key. Windows will start to load files and then will take you to a screen that asks you to install Windows or repair; press the "Enter" key. Press the "F8" key to accept the licensing agreement. If a Windows installation is detected it will prompt you to repair, just press the "Esc" key. Select the existing partition and press "D" to delete the partition. You may have to press "Enter" and then "L" to confirm that you want to delete the partition. The screen will then list the open partitions to create a new partition. Hit the "C" key to create a new partition where the previous one existed. The setup will ask you to pick a size for the new partition, it will automatically list the largest possible size. Hit "Enter" to accept this size. On the next screen, Windows will ask which partition you want to install Windows on. Pick the partition you just created. The next screen will offer several options to Format the partition. Select one of the options and hit "Enter".
  • Step 4 Install or restart. After the partition is formatted, you can install Windows again or you can turn off the computer and remove the CD. Your computer is now formatted. Go back to your BIOS and change the boot up order to hard drive first.
Thanks

Get a bootable CD, go to bios setup and change the first boot device to CD ROM. Then boot to the CD, re-install. Go to manufacturer's site for drivers that are installed.

Hello the hard drive of our laptop needs a full reformat so i can reinstall xp but how do i format it without a working opperating system? thank you

You can do a full reformat right from the windows xp install disk. Put the xp disk in the cdrom drive and restart the computer. Upon restarting a message will come up ( Hit any key to boot from CD ) Hit any key, the files will load then you will be able to format the hard drive and also load windows XP.
If for some reason your system doesnt boot from the cd, you might have to go into the Bios and change the boot order from the hard drive or the floppy to the cd so the computer will boot from the CD first. Hope this helps... Joe > Data Miner <

OK ya got a problem... here is what to do... boot up on the DVD then get to the part where ya choosing ya Drive Etc, and FORMAT the entire drive/partition ... you will loose any/all data at this stage... after ya format ya drive... NTFS.. Then install vista...

If that will not work get a formatting program from the Drives manufacturer, or Partition Magic, or the like, and boot up on it CD/DVD, Floppy, whatever and then Format the Drive... NTFS Then install Vista...
