Unable to separate VCR playback from Sat. Receiver input, both av2
Have a Dynex dxr24tv trying to hook up Sat receiver, VCR and DVD player. W/O DVD player, normally connect the RCA cables for Video and Audio(L & R) from Sat Rec Out #1 to VCR in Video and Audio and then the VCR Out , Video and Audio to TV in Video and Audio(1)
I used to use Channel L1 on VCR to watch Sat Receiver and play tapes
I then connected the Video and Audio outs on the DVD player to
the VCR in 2 , both Video and Audio on the front of the VCR, and play the DVD on Channel L2 on the VCR.
I called DirectV to find out how to hook upDVD player with the Dynex TV they said:Connect Svideo on DVD player to Svideo on TV and then connectthe Audio cables (L & R)on DVD player to TV in Audio #1, I thought it should have been number 2
Sat Rec out, Video and Audio to VCR in Video and Audio
VCR Out Video and Audio toTV In (2) Video and Audio
On the TV itself, when I scan thru the Input, I can access the DVD player I hooked up, and the Sat Rec, but when I hit play on VCR, it goes to the same input (AV2) as the Sat rec plays on, plays the tape for 5 seconds, goes to a blue screen than back to VCR tape again
Also, from Menu, what channel should I have the Tv On?

Double-check your input cables from the receiver to the LG 389. Do you have the sat. receiver AV out connected to the front AV In on the LG DRT389? Make sure that you haven't mixed up the L and R audio connections on either side. (I've done something similar with RCA cables myself.) Next, try a different set of cables.
If that doesn't work, there may be a problem with the audio jacks on either your receiver or the 389. To check, plug the AV cables from the Sat. Receiver directly into the TV. If you have sound and video, then the input jacks on the recorder may be damaged.
Try using another input. (It looks like some models have the SCART input; you may need to set the input source in the menu under AV2 Decoder.)
The fact that you have audio output on USB and DVD's means that cables/connections between the LG289 and the TV are fine.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the details of which AV port you are using on the LG389 for additional assistance.
that reciever is not going to carry a hi definition video signal, it doesnt have either hdmi or component video inputs.
you can still use it, but if you run the picture through the reciever, it will have poor quality.
heres how you are supposed to hook it up:
find the single,m yellow video jack on your sattelite box, and hook that up to the "tv" video input, then hook the laft and right audio outputs from the cable box into the "tv" audio left and right inputs on the receiver. hook up the dvd player and vcr in the same manner, using "dvd" and "VCR" (if labeled as such) inputs on the reciever.
finally, send the tv video and audio outputs to the composite video in and left/right audio inputs on the tv. the video will be running through the reciever, and when you use the reciever to switch the sound source, the video will also be changed. you could get better picture quality if you ran the video directly to the tv using component (seperate green, red and blue) outputs/inputs, and bypassing the reciever on the video end, but then you would have to change inputs on the tv AND reciever to change from your cable box to your dvd player.
For watching TV, your TV should have a monitor out. This will go to your CBL/Sat input on the receiver. If you have a newer TV, it will have an optical output,if you use that, you will have Dolby Digital surround when available, and digital stereo at all other times. For the VCR and DVD, if they are separate units, Run audio video from the VCR to the receiver to VCR 1, for the DVD, use Component video and optical or digital coaxial to the receiver. Then from the receiver run component video to the TV. If you need further help, post a comment and I will help you further. Hope this helps
Connect the Wii to your television. Then connect the variable audio output from the TV to the audio in on the monitor section of the receiver. Then use the TV/SAT input selection on the receiver and dolby prologic 2 as your sound mode.
Av out from sat to AV1 on TV. AV2 from tv to av in on dvd/vcr . ( if you can pick what av2 on the tv sends out set to send av1 out to record) OR AVout from sat. to AV1 on TV, AVvideo on sat to vcr/dvd. The sat. system will act as a "play through" device so you can play vcr/dvd without changing the AV on the TV. If you connect another lead in either option you may get a feedback loop causing audio "squeak" and video problems. Post back to let me know if this helps.
you will only be able to get digital surround( dolby digital ) from your dvd player( by the coax or optical digital connections ) , the rest will only be in virtual surround
from the dtv box plug the yellow video jack(RCA) into the vcr video input , then plug the audio jack or jacks into the audio input on the vcr. from the vcr hook the audio out to the audio in on the reciever( tv/vcr/sat... input ) , then also connect RF out from the VCR to RF in on the TV .
for the dvd player hook the "s-video out" to the "s-video in" on the tv , then the audio L and R on same s-video input , then send the audio out connection on tv to L and R input on reciever dvd L and R input , then you will need to connect the optical from the dvd player to the reciever or coax connections for the dolby digital on the reciever to work
Use SCART lead from Sat. box to VCR input( so you can record progs.) then another SCART lead from VCR output to TV set AV1 input. Connect DVD (player only I presume) direct to AV2 input of TV set using another SCART lead.
Hope all this works O.K.
Note:- If DVD is also a recorder then you don't need VCR as a recording device and leads will need to be altered accordingly, of course!!
TRY PUTTING A SET OF PHONO CABLES INTO THE VCR INPUT THEN TO THE ANALOG OUT PUTS ON TOUR DVD/VCR SWITCH AMP TO VCR PRESS DIGITAL INPUT BUTTON ON FRONT OF AMP UNTILL YOU GET _ _ _ SET SOUND TO PROLOGIC 2.THIS SHOULD WORK.
