Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV
I have a Sharp Aquos 42in LCD TV. After being on for an hour or so a dark band appears at the bottom of the screen. The band takes up about the bottom quater of the screen, is darkest in the left corner and lightens to the right. I have read suggestions about the closed captioning, but this is not the problem because I have that turned off. When I play with the remote to try and fix the problem the words that come on the screen in this area seem to burn in for a few seconds and slowly face into the darkened spot. The only remedy is to turn the set off for at least 20 min. Any help is greatly appriciated.

Usually the DISPLAY Button on your TV remote will toggle through several different functions: 1 sec, 5 sec, Always on..... Press button until display on TV is off. Or see if there is an ON SCREEN DISPLAY portion in the TV Menu and turn it to off if you have not checked that already.

That message is presented when a selected digital channel is too weak to decode. Let us hope that something was accidentally changed:
Is the channel legitimate?
Is the antenna/cable still connected (to the Digital input)?
Go into menu - setup - channel setup. Is the selection of either cable or air channels correct for your situation?
Use menu - setup - Antenna Setup-DIGITAL to examine the signal strength. Is there nothing at all, or is it just a question of strength?
Odds favor a change in channel setup that you would not have made intentionally, or a simple physical problem (input cable, etc.). Start from scratch, and check the settings and connections you originally made. Hopefully it will be simple and cheap!
