Question about JVC Cybercam GR-DVL520A Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Every time I put a tape in I get an error code and am told to remove battery. The tape is eaten each time I try so I can't use it at all. Any suggestions?
There is a small nylon gear assembly on the bottom of the chassis that needs to be replaced and is not an easy repair for the skilled tech as the entire camcorder has to be disassembled. Good Luck

In DCRTRV430 Camcorder, the C:31:42 error message is a Self diagnostic display. This message can be clearly identified by the help of a Sony Authorized service technician. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camcorder. In C:31:42, the issue is with the tape and the tape mechanism.
I suggest that you remove and reinsert the tape to check if it helps. You may also try inserting new tapes in the Camcorder. Please remove the battery and/or power cable, connect, and perform operations from the beginning. You may also try resetting the Camcorder back to factory default after removing the tape.
To Reset the Camcorder, perform the steps below:
? Please open the LCD screen to locate the RESET button.
? To reset the Camcorder, press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.
? Please make sure that the Camcorder is turned on while pressing the reset button.
Also, try turning off the Camcorder and remove the battery pack. Then move the 'Power Switch' of the Camcorder to the ON position
for 1 minute. After about 1 minute, move the 'Power Switch' to the OFF position.
Now reinsert the battery, turn on the Camcorder and check whether it is working fine.
