Might want to check the ram. That will always make a PC run slow, but if you have a sufficient amount of ram I would say a gig for running xp. Then re-formatting and re-installing the OS will make the computer faster. Also some PC have a built in recovery partition.
hi depending on what type of connection you have ,broadband ,eircom 3g,02,all run on different packages ,have you defragmented your pc ,and cleaned up your pc of unwanted programs these all can lead to slowing down your computer especially music ,so the main thing to do is clean your computer ,then if its still running slow you can allways install more ram which will give you more speed hope this helps you goodluck
If you have less than 512 MB of Ram that is your problem. Add more ram to increase the speed of the computer. You can get ram here. http://www.crucial.com/ Just click "Scan My System" and they will tell you what you have and what you can install with the price. Best money you will spend on a slow computer. Also runs disk cleanup and remove all it finds.

The above guidelines were really helpful to speed up my computer. These are safe and do impact computer performance in a positive way.
You have to upgrade your RAM. 512MB is the minimum. Also you can increase the virtual memory. To do this right click on mycomputer, click properties, click on settings button that is next to performance, Click on virtual memory and then click on change. Set the value to 512. This will speed up your computer a little but stil upgrading your RAM is the best bet. Regards, Eagle338.
