Question about Simrad AP35 GPS Receiver

Simrad Autopilot won't turn on

Hello,
I used to have an AP20. It corroded out and so I replaced it with an AP35, which was suggested by a guy at Navico/Simrad. The junction box is the JX300-40 (I sent this to Navico and they tested it. They said it was fine.). However, the thing still doesn't turn on. I have been going through all the connections, of course. The main power supply shows full power going in (12 + volts) but the pink/grey output power source at the junction box shows (-2.5 volts). The Navico/Simrad guy said it should be 24 volts or so. He hasn't been helpful since agreeing to test the junction box. Would anyone be able to hazard a guess as to how this is happening?
Thanks,
Mike

Try and turn on the unit at the J300-40 pcb by using a test light one end to gnd and going to the ap35 interconnect and touch the test light to each pin or until you hear the unit start up.

How connect the nav net vx2 to autopilot simrad.what output port and colour cable

Get someone from a marine electronics company to do this for you. If you are unsure of the basics of what you need and you attempt to do this while going in blind, you may ruin your nmea ports on your navnet and autopilot. While I understand that you are trying to save $$$ by doing this, there's more to it than just wiring. There are port setups and nmea sentences to enable etc.

AP35 Autopilot

Yep, if rudder calibration values are OK, then there is a real problem with calibration, it can be a mechanical problem or a faulty rudder feedback unit. Follow procedure at page 93 of user manual :
AP35 Autopilot Instruction Manualto troubleshoot the error, if you cannot get rid of the error message you may have to replace the rudder feedback unit or to have the unit inspected by a technician.

I can not seem to get a simrad ap 20 to recognize the nmea connection from the navnet vx2

you will have to designate which sentences to send to the AP20 from the navnet under port options. also make sure the AP20 is set to read the correct port to accept the information such as gps1 or 2 or nav1 or nav2
