Try connect your laptop with a monitor using the vga out port. Use your keyboard to direct output to vga out. This is to make sure that your system is running.
If the display is OK, perhaps your laptop LCD is broken.

I've seen this on a couple of laptops before. On those, just unplugging AC power, then removing the battery and then reinserting it and reapplying AC got the video restored on the laptop. Hope this will work for you too!

We have a Toshiba Satellite lap top. It was working about an hour ago, when we down loaded a BIOS upgrade from 1.4 to 1.5. After the down load and reboot the lap top now has a black screen with no wording....

BIOS updates sometimes cause the motherboard to revert to its default configuration. I recommend that you go into the BIOS setup and examine the Boot Devices and Boot Order to make sure that your hard drive is selected as the first boot device.

Good luck!

PC wont go on & beeps...

thats mostlikely one of the wire's for your speakers, printer or any other device yuo have that needs power..
If so that wont help your pc in any way.

I'd untangle and trace the wire back to see where it's coming from to be safe.
Also if your pc is plugged in along with your monitor and you can turn both on and you still get an error, then you have a problem. I'd submit a new question detaling the error or beeps your getting.

I have two Toshiba lap tops, I had the same problems which you have, tell you the truth, I took them to Bevely Hills factory warranty shop changed the mother board and then after eight months, I had some other problems, total five times in the repaire shop and finally passed the warranty. It is totally gone.

I know this can not help you at all, remember four years ago, Toshiba been suit, finally I got two years factory warranty for my lap tops, I wasted too much of my time to solve the problems but both lap top I can not use anymore,
