Have you removed the harddrive and plugged it into power only to see if it you can feel/hear it spinning? If it spins plug the data cable back in and make sure it is fully seated in the mother board and the back of the HDD. Is it IDE or SATA? Internal, right?

Hi there,

If you have access to another system, download SeaTools for DOS from the Seagate website:
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools

This program makes a bootable DOS disk that will check ALL sectors on your drive. If needed, it will give you the option to fix, including boot sectors.

Also, if you can, download the most current Chipset drivers for your system, these include the EIDE and SATA controllers, just in case.

Hope these ideas work

Tim

You plug the card in the reader, you open Computer, you open the Removable device that corresponds to the card and you cut and paste the photo files from there to wherever you want on your pc.

Turning on unit ,clicking sound (fans operating),power light blinking very fast in time w/clicks

the clicking noise is the reader arm jumping across platters on your hard drive you have a dirty hard drive first clean all the dust from your computer specifically from around your hard drive using a high powered suction vacuum cleaner or a fine air blower from a air compressor making sure there is no moisture in the air lines then give the hard drive a firm tap on the side to free up the reader arm
also you might test the electical leads that are attached to your hard drive make sure they are securely seated and they are not faulty

Install hard drive in hp a1310n

You need to do a number of things:

1) You need to carefully remove the door and the whole front face of the desktop (the front face opens like a door it swings open from left to right)

2) Once you have the front pannel open take a philips screwdriver and unscrew the memory card readers that is show in front of the deskop (there is one screw holding this card reader in place probably on the upper right hand corner.

3) Carefully remove the card reader by jiggiling it lightly till the unit comes off.

4) After you remove the card reader, you will immediatly see the hard drive directly behind the reader that you just removed.

5) Now look inside the desktop (because you removed the right hand side door: the big one that alows you to see inside the pc) and remove all cables from this hard drive before you read #6 below

6) Inside the desktop, Locate the hard drive, put your hand on the back of it and lift on the green plastic part along side the hard drive where you can see the harddrive screw which is on a metal track stopped by a green plastic stopper.

7) Lift the green plastic stopper and push the back of the hard drive to the front of the desktop.

8) Unscrew all screws from old hard drive and rescrew them on the new one in the exact same spots at the old hard drive.

9)Once you finish screwing on the screws, slide the new hard drive back from where the old one was

10) reconnect all data cables and power supply cable.

11) follow steps 7 thru 1 to put unit back together again. Go thru steps 7 thru one backwards

I hope this helps

Powermate Eco Hard Drive Crashed

Hello

instructions on how to remove and replace the hard drive are on this PDF document.

http://support.necam.com/mobilesolutions/hardware/Desktops/eco/819-201002-000med.pdf

You will need a pdf reader to open the document, if you are unable to open it download a pdf reader here
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/

Can you remove the hard drive from the computer, write down the details that read on top of it, and also if you could look at the connectors and tell me the details so I can make sure I direct you at a proper replacement.

Thank you,
Ekse

Reboot and Select proper Boot device

Hi Slash73, can you check your bios for:

Boot order
And hard drive config, I have seen this on a XP Pro PC, The HD the OS was loaded onto was set as "Secondry Master", with a primary hard drive installed.
The PC doesn't have a card reader built in? I have heard of a PC attempting to boot to a camera "flash card" which was left in the reader and forgotton. ( just like the "old day" with the floppy left in the drive.
I think that if the PC ran alright for the 1st week that this issue is in someway hard ware related (Not that I have faith in Vista)
