Question about Computers & Internet
I bought this new PC with ASUS P5sd2-vm motherboard with sis chipset. and tried to boot with LG DVD RW sata (GH22NS30), but the system after initial boot, shuts down without error.
Then I changed the DVD RW to a LG IDE but again the same problem.
Even after installing XP with other drives, the system shuts down when I try to use the new drive.
What cud be the problem.
IT surely works perfect with any old dvd ROMs and Cd RWs.
thanks
Nadeem
If you are sure that it works with other DVD drives, then I cannot help.
But if a system shuts down suddenly, the first thing I would check would be the CPU temp. At around 97 degrees, Intel processors shutdown to protect from excessive heat. Go into the setup (some call it BIOS) and check cpu temp.
If that's not the problem, then you should consider things like drivers problems, virus infection, broken hardware, compatibility issues. Try to search technet site at microsoft for a similar problem.
Good Luck!

well, thanx for the help. After much brain hammering, I found out that the SMPS was the culprit. I changed it and thing became fine.
