Question about EliteGroup P4M800PRO-M478 Motherboard

Switching ddr to ddr2 memory

I have a ECS motherboard P4M800PRO-M478 FSB800 which has both DDR and DDR2 slots..I removed the DDR and inserted two 1 GB DDR2 sticks in the right place...When I turn on the unit it just flashes from cd-rom to dvd..The lights keep flickering and the computer won't boot.
Did I miss a step or is my Board a crappy one??

Re-examine the memory chips.... sometimes swapping slots (still ddr2 slots) will fix the issue. the other possibility might be that you have to set them up in the bios ... if you happen to have the manual for that board.... make sure there isn't supposed to be a jumper on the motherboard that needs to be changed as well.... some ideas to try... in the mean time i'll go look and see if i can find the manual myself and perhaps i'll have found it.

What is the max size of ddr400 memory you can fit into ddr1 & ddr2 dimm slots on a p4vm8 mother board

1) Total maximum amount for motherboard is 2GB.

2) There are 2 Ram Memory slots.

3) Maximum amount for EACH ram memory slot is 1GB.

Either DDR Sdram at 266MegaHertz, or 333MHz, or 400MHz.
PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200, respectively.

http://www.asrock.com/mb/VIA/P4VM8/

There is no DDR1 and DDR2 slots, in a manner of speaking.

May be marked on your motherboard that way, but stating it that way on a computer product support website = No.

You're going to make someone think, you don't know what you are talking about.

They may think you are referring to DDR Sdram, and DDR2 Sdram, and they know the motherboard only uses DDR Sdram ram memory.

Suggest state Slot 1 and Slot 2; or DIMM 1 and DIMM 2.

I installed the 1GB DDR2 533 but upon startup it recognizes my RAM at half its capacity.

Make sure you use only ONE TYPE of memory modules - DDR -OR- DDR2... Both types CAN'T operate simultaneously!
Also, this motherboard support no more than 2GB in total...

I have ECS P4M800PRO-v1.0 Mother board.I upgrade the RAM with SRD1G86U2-D4H.But after insttaling I have a problem of blue screen with error stop-0*0000008E.Disebeled bios memory option.

RAM problems -  you have probably installed a DDR memory module in a DDR2 memory slot or you are trying to run both DDR and DDR2 at the same time.

Upgraded Ram Issues

check the voltage on your new ram.
For ddr2 you need both slots filled.(this the memory I would use)
Make sure you put it in the right slots.
make sure that BIOs recognises each stick.
Let me know if these work for you.

Can 1 stick of DDR and 1 stick of DDR2 be used together

This mother board will take either DDR or DDR2 but not both at the same time. It is stated clearly in the user manual. So if you already have 1 stick of DDR just get another stick DDR also and not DDR2.

or read the manual that comes with it.

Ram goes in the two blue slots, sound & modem in white PCI slots, video in orange AGP slot.  You can't put cards in the wrong slots.
