i'm using windows and trying to install avg. i did have something called eprotect but i believe when i trid to download it, it never went through completely so i just forgot about it.

Chris. I tried what you suggested and everything went through fine with the startup. I tried to install AVG again and it went further than before but towards the end it gave me an error.

"Local machine: prepared for the installation
    Actions plan:
Error: Service AvgTdiX needs to be installed, but it has been marked by the Windows as delete pending during previous unintallation process. Please restart the computer to finnish pending service deletion."

    any help?

Harry I tried to do what you asked but when i went to remove it from control panel it failed and said that i would have to reboot before install/uninstall could run" I've reset so many times and nothing seems to fix it. any other suggestions?

  • kcastro_joy Dec 23, 2008

    Hey Guys!

The telus e-protect link didn't do anything. For some reason I go into add/remove and i can view it there but nowhere else on my computer...when i try to remove it it says that install/uninstall already in progress and to restart - obviously restarted my computer several times already. I guess main concern is checking and making sure everything is gone from TELUS e-protect. with the link provided...i completed the DATREMOVER.EXE and says all removal complete but errors out on starting security services. The second portion with RpsUU.exe - directs me to "removing all the components of you security services softwarefrom your computer" I enter YES to continue and gives me an error " the %s cannot continue because another install is running. please exit any other install programs." Now when i try to do the MSCleaner.exe - it lets me run it and accept the terms and conditions but then gives me a similar error "Error 1500 Another installation is in progress. you must completethat installation before continuing this one" So there it is...nothing seems to get this off my computer.

Regarding AVG I just removed the link that i have saved on desktop because nothing was showing up under add/remove. I've given up on that and got System Mechanical Professional. It's allowing me to download everything but at the last end it gives me an error "Installation cannot proceed because the following conflicting software is installed: McAfee Virus Scan and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus" Its telling me to go to add/remove to take out the software. I looked in there and nothing is showing up..I've even searched my C: for it and nothing shows up. How do I get around this?

Uninstall Telus E-Protect (assuming that's the one you referred to)...
UNinstall any UNsuccessful partial attempts to install AVG or anything else ... THEN do a clean reinstall of whatever Anti-Virus you intend to use.

BTW, **don't** have any other security programs (such as software firewalls, ZoneAlarm or anything else) running when you are trying to install any new anti-virus.

I agree with Victor, do a reinstall of the OS. It will save you a lot of time.
Computers can get permanently "sick" after too many problems, too little maintenance etc.

You must make sure you have uninstalled all other anti virus software before reloading new software.

Go to control panel add/remove and look up your software list for any thing you have installed under antivirus and remove it.

Goto the avg site and download their free software again.

Re-formating your hard drive will save you an aweful lot of time, being as this has been on the cards since December 19th, you could have reformatted and reinstalled the whole computer, after saving all your data.

I would not waste any futher time on this crazy error, next time stick with a reputable supplier for your AV, like Trend Micro, maybe there is something in paying for your software.

Good luck and a merry Christmas.

Get as much info on your machine; serial Numbers and the likes then before reformating call them and ask if they can supply installation disks to you, let us know what they say and we'll guide you from there.

If you are really SMART you can arrange to take your Setup along to one of their workshops and they can format and reinstall the whole lot for you for a fee of course, but well worth it. Nothing comes for nothing in this world I'm afraid, so don't forget to submit your tokens to the guys here who have put you on the straight and narrow.

    Happy new year.

PS. You must get this resolved pronto, you have suffered long enough now, too long for my liking.

Goto start -> run
type msconfig
Click the startup tab
look for any entries that say setup and uncheck them
Reboot if there were any.

Sometimes a failed install will continue to try installing via the startup in the registry. Also follow all of the above suggestions and this should solve your problems. If not please post again and we will go from there.

Did it get far enough to launch the program? If so try launching it and then running the update program. If it will not launch try running the uninstall and then after the uninstall is completed delete the AVG directory that is located in c:\Program Files. REboot and then try reinstalling again.

Why did the installation process fail?

It believe you are talking about printer installation which keep failing over and over.

If this is right then follow these steps to fix it:-These steps are recommended steps which always need to be done before installing a new printer.

1.Before you initiate the printer installation make sure your Antivirus software firewall is turned off.

like if you are using norton then >>right click on norton on bottom right hand side corner>>it give you a pop up menu then left click turn off norton firewall. and do the same thing if you any other antivirus.

2.Before you install the printer make sure you don't have that printer drivers already installed.
If have already installed that printer drivers earlier then first uninstall that printer drivers.

after you uninstall the previous printer drivers then after that restart your computer once.

Install an updated full version of antivirus. Your antivirus might-be-out of date. I recommend you to use avast or avg 8. They will remove all the viruses they detect from your system. But remember to install only one antivirus because installing more than one antivirus can clash down your computer. After installing the new antivirus, scan your computer and delete all the detected viruses. Delete also your temporary internet files, cookies, cache, etc. To do this, follow these steps:
  • Go to Start, Control Panel.
  • Network and Internet Connections
  • Internet Options
  • In the Browsing History, click Delete...
  • Delete Browsing History box appears, Click Delete All button found at the bottom.
  • Reboot your computer.

Error ''installation in progress''

Hi there,

Most laptops come with some sort of antivirus software, even if it's just a trial. Open Task Manager, and click on the Processes tab, have a look down the list and see if you have anything on there that may look like an antivirus, i.e. Norton, Symantecs, McAffee, Avast. I also would have thought that it would be a .exe

So you may just be looking for Setup.exe. Right-click and stop the process and try again.

Hope that helps

Trying to install HP Officejet 6300 all in one and after I connect usb to computer the installation stops & tells me another installation is already in progress & complete that installation before...

We will experience this issue if the previously installed software is not removed completely.

Insert the software CD and click on uninstall and then uninstall the software.

Now restart the computer and then try to reinstall the software.

If the issue persists disable the firewall and antivirus and then try to reinstall.
