Re: printer prints a test page every time it is turned...
I suspect the alignment was never finished and it is trying to do the alignment. Alignment is done when one or more print cartridges are replaced. Try taking out the cartridges and re-nsert them. Wait for the alignment page to be printed (automatically). Then switch off and on again to see if the problem has gone away.

i have this printer, what you have to do is when you power it up, wait and listen until the printer grabs the paper to do the test print, then quickly press the CANCEL button once, the paper will pass through the printer but not print, then just put the paper back in the feed tray and start your day with a smile. The cancel button is on the left hand side underneath the power button. The printer prints a test page when you change ink cartridge as well by the way.
After printing the sheet needs to be loaded into the scanner and then you press the button as shown on the sheet to complete the alignment process. Once the alignment completes it will not print another alignment page untiol the next time a cartridge is replaced.
Hi Jay, This is mike, actually the problem is that that printer has not completed the aligning process, as a result the printer is printing the test page (Alignment page) every time when you turn it ON. So, I would suggest you to let the printer prints the alignment page and check whether the printer prints the page with all colors and it printed fine, once it is done, disconnect the USB cable behind the printer and then place the alignment page on the scanner glass by facing down the printed page downwards and press the scan button. This start the alignment process and the scanning process will be completed once the ON light is stop blinking. This will complete the alignment process.
Once done try to turn off and turn on the printer and check for the result. This should resolve the issue.
However, if the issue persist, then please revert back to me. Be sure that you use the HP genuine ink cartridges, not refilled nor re-manufacture.
- after it printed an alignment page
- face the alignment page on the scanner and press ok..
- then try to print from the computer.
- try to turn the printer off and on again if still it will print an alignment page.
OOh dear your printer has a little confusion gnome!!!, i am assuming it is attatched to pc, you have to start by resetting it. Take out the cartridge. Close printer and turn it off. Unplug it, remove all cables. Now, take 3 deep breaths, replug all cables, turn it on and wait for pc to recognise it. It will reset it for you. Now, try printing normally again. Re-post if this does not fix it.
