Always reads open tray

ok i solved this the other day..BUT..this all depends if ur xbox is stil in warranty or not or if u want to open up your xbox which will void the warranty...if ur xbox is still in warranty than send it back...from what i heard they can fix it and have it back within a week.

If your xbox warranty ran out this is waht u can do

THIS kid is a savior trust me this works...one thing to note though...he has the same drive as me..which is a BenQ...yours may be different. im not sure if the other drives have those nubs on the back so u may want to look up what drive u have b4 u do this....good luck man

I had the same problem. Here's what I was told to do (and it worked). If your problem is different, then I'm sorry, I don't know what else to do. This is worth a try, though. Go to System Settings>Console Settings>Startup. Make "Disc" the startup. Shut down your 360, take the hard drive out, and start it back up (with a working disc in the disc tray). If the game doesn't start, I'm sorry, but I can't help you. If it does, however, then turn it off, put the hard drive back in, then turn it on. Go to System Settings>Memory. Now, press these things in order. X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X. When it asks if you want to continue, press yes (don't worry, it doesn't damage your save files or anything). Then go back to the dashboard and try starting up your game. I hope that helped.

either you pulled on the tray, and damaged it or something not making the tray go all the way in.

check to see if anything obstructing the tray from going in, DUST, is the first culprit. try cleaning with short blast of air inside of the dvd drive, be warned, might cause more damage then good, do short small burst of air. you dont want dust on your lens eye, so it might be tricky.

I had the same problem but I have a simple fix I just put my xbox in the upright position instead of the horizontal position and now it works just fine hope it works for you
