My washing machine gets stuck after rinse cycle

When the machine is finished with the rinse cycle sometimes it will get stuck. All the water will be gone from the tub but it continues to run and drain out of the machine into the drain, which if left unattended can be a huge waste of water. But if you advance the timer just slightly it will go into the spin cycle as it should. Could the timer be bad? Please help.

We have the same exact issue on a Whirlpool model LSQ9110PW4. When the rinse cycle is reached, the water keeps pouring into the tub. The tub does not overfill because the water is somehow also draining out at the same time. If the timer/selector switch is pulled and advanced just a bit, then pushed in again to start the rinse cycle, the wash job completes as normal. This is an intermittent issue as it does not always occur in every setting, or water level selected.

Before spending any money calling a repairman or changing parts, check the drain hose. If it is too deep down into the drain pipe then pull it back so that only about 6 to 10 inches is down the pipe. If it is too far down then it creates a vacuum which drains the water as it is trying to fill for the final rinse.

thank you so much for this solution. We just moved recently and i noticed our washer was just running on the rinse cycle and wasting water. We pulled the drain hose out a bit just like you suggested and viola, our washer is fixed.

It sounds like you have a timer that has gone a little "flaky" on you. If it's only happening at the spin cycle increment, you may have a dirty contact inside the timer. Sometimes you can open them up and clean them with an emery board or some alcohol and a cotton swap. If you don't want to bother you can replace the entire timer, but they can be pricey. Good luck.

Not a bad idea to check if the loading door saftey switch (which prevents spin cycle when door is ajar or opened) is intermitently breaking contact. I do agrre with the Guru on the timer solution. Door saftey switches usually are not realated to the water still running continuously. when they go bad or the contact goes "open" the spin cycle will not work at all.

Most likely its your water inlet valve..(cold side is not letting water in). Very common problem that usually manifests during rinse cycle since rinse uses always cold water.

My washing machine will not drain. It finished all the cycles but didn't drain after the rinse cycle. It still spun afterwards with water still in it.

Pump failure. Unit probably has something stuck in pump....the washer eats the socks not the dryer. suggest shope vac to get water out, and then remove hose from pump and check to see if its clear.

Wash machine sometimes gets stuck on rinse cycle & dryer not dry

Sounds like the drain hose for the washer is too far down in the stand pipe at the wall causing a siphon effect, try raising drain hose a little. The dryer sounds like the vent line from back of dryer too wall is pinched causing an air flow obstruction. Hope this helps.

Stuck in rinse cycle

Mimmi, If the water isn't reaching temp this will happen. It sounds like a heating issue.
Guest,
The spray arm being blocked will not cause this. Again your machine isn't heating the water to temp.
