Searching for base and battery loses power too soon

We have 4 handsets and a base unit incl handset. After not even 5 minutes of talking, any handset starts beeping and message shows: searching for base.. After that the phone just dies. Have tried diffrent handsets on diffrent bases, but to no avail. System is 4 years old and was most expensive V-tech available, but should have longer life..or may be not, question is what to do??
Thank you in advance for giving any solution..

Have the batteries been changed since the system was purchased... 4 years is a fairly good usage for batteries in that type of use.
Good news you should have no trouble buying replacement batteries... even walmart has them. Open the back of one of the phones... the battery has a small plug.. pull that out and you will see the part number... about 25 dollars each battery pack... cheaper if you are in the states.
One note tho... when you replace the battery pack you need to charge it for at least 12 hours prior to the first usage 24 hours even better.

Phone says searching

Bring the handset that says searching into the same room as the base and see if the handset stops searching. Next unplug the handset batteries (yes from all handsets) and the base power cord (from both the base and the wall outlet). Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the batteries and base power cord. Next try to de-register and then re-register the handsets. (If you add a comment with the phone model, I'll help you with this step. Uniden has the manuals for their phones on their site: http://www.uniden.com/bin/venda?ex=co_disp-view&bsref=uniden&scat=dectphones_mnl .)

If this doesn't help, next try a new battery (and make sure that the battery is fully charged) for the phone. (If the phone is under warranty, contact Uniden. Note: batteries lose their ability to hold a charge over time. This includes the time on the shelf in the package.)

If a new battery doesn't help, then there is something wrong with the handset. Decide if it is worth having the unit fixed if the phone is out of warranty.

I hope this helps.

(I'm assuming that both handsets are cordless. If you have a corded/cordless model, then check that the base has power before you go farther with the above diagnostics. The power brick should be warm. We had a cordless phone on a power strip (UPS) that got turned off. The handset was searching for a signal that wasn't being sent. If you have power to the base, try sending the Find Handset message. The problem could be either the base or the handset not sending and receiving the signals between them.)

I have a SKPE Phillips phone VO1P8411B/37. In an effort to fix the phone I de-registered it. When I select REGISTER, it comes back with 'Registration failed'. I tried to put in the default code of 0000...

Firstly, unplug the base unit, then remove from this base unit the ethernet cable and most importantly, unplug the telephone line! Then remove the batteries from the 2nd handset. Keep everything unplugged for a few minutes, then plug the power into the base unit, wait 1 minute, then plug in the Ethernet cable and wait 5 more minutes. Do NOT plug in the telephone line just yet. After the 5 minute wait, put the batteries back into the 2nd handset and then follow the registration instructions from the manual (copied below)...

Make sure you have configured the language, country code, and area code of your
phone before registering additional handsets.

1. Press "Reg.". Register shall be highlighted.
2. Enter the system PIN (Default: 0000). Use "Clear" to correct typing errors.
3. Press "Enter" to confirm.
• Your handset starts searching for the base.
4. Press the top button on the base unit until the two indications turn off.

• If registration is unsuccessful, the signal icon displays steadily.

TIP: IF REGISTRATION FAILED, REPEAT THE ABOVE PROCEDURE.

Like other methods, you must hold down the button on the base unit until the lights STOP blinking. When you have successfully registered your 2nd handset, then plug in the telephone line into the base station. I did the above and it worked! The trick is to be patient and wait the few minutes while everything resets itself.

How do I deregister my handsets on my VTech 2656

To be able to register your replacement handset, you must de-register all the handsets from the VT2656 base unit.

Follow the steps below to de-register your handset(s) from the VT2656 base:

1. Take out the handset that sits on the base.
2. Unplug power from the base.
3. Hold down PAGE while reconnecting power. When the In Use light blinks, release the PAGE key.
4. Hold down PAGE key for 5 seconds. When the In Use light begins to flash, release the PAGE key.
5. The handset charging light will blink 5 times. Within 5 seconds from when it stops blinking, press PAGE once.

You must register the handset(s) by following the steps below:

1. After charging the handset, remove it from the cradle, the LCD display will read "SEARCHING FOR BASE".
2. Press "NEW" and then enter the 15-digit Base ID code, located on the underside of the VT2656 base unit.
3. Press "OK". The handset will display "PLEASE WAIT!!".
4. Wait approximately 15 seconds. The handset will display "FOUND BASE". If the handset displays "BASE BUSY TRY LATER", this indicates that the system is in use. Wait until the base unit is in the idle (on hook) mode and repeat steps 2-4.

Panasonic KX TG9331 no link to base Even standing next to the base, I cannot answer the call. Sometimes repeated pressing of the talk button lets me talk. Also, switching to speaker phone sometimes drops...

Sounds like a defective handset or base unit. Unplug the base unit from power and the telephone jack. Leave unplugged for 1 minute, this sometimes helps the phone to reset from a problem. Unplug the battery from the handset and plug back in after a minute also to help reset. Place your handset in the base unit for about 1 minute to allow the handset to link up with the base unit. If this doesn't work you may have a defective phone. Contact Panasonic support for further information if this does not work.

Motorola MD400

Take battery out of handset for one minute.
Unplug base unit (power and phone line) for one minute.
Plug base unit back in (power and phone line).
Put battery back in handset. Place hangset on base for
one minute. This got my phone up and running.
I had no battery power in the base unit, but if I did, I think
you have to remove those as well.

VTech 5.8 mhz won't work

I found a solution that fixed this problem (at least for me). On the vtech site they said to unplug the base unit for at least 5 minutes. Previously, I had only unplugged the base unit for a few seconds. This time, I left it unplugged for about 10 minutes or so and when I plugged it back in, everything was working fine. Apparently there is some sort of capacitor that must discharge long enough to completely remove power from the circuitry.

Good luck and I hope this works for you!

Lost comunication

I solved this problem with a RESET of the handset. Instructions from the Philips website: Please perform a reset of your device. You will not loose your recorded data (phonebook and personal settings are being kept). 1. Unplug the mains of the base station. 2. Remove one of the batteries of each handset. 3. Put the batteries back in and re-plug the mains of the base station.
