Question about Kodak EasyShare DX6490 Digital Camera
Hello Cowgirl, It sounds like the camera settings have been changed in the menu.Check to see if all control items are set to "AUTO"
This should take care of problem.The camera did not go bad not being used.

and dont put yuor finger on the mic when taking cam

Not sure about your camera but most of them yes you can turn of the flash.
Its usually in the settings; just remove it from "automatic flash" to "no- Flash" its sometimes symboled like a lightning arrown downwards. Look around it will be in your settings.

a jpeg is not a standard photo file. You want to set it for jpg. Take the USB hub out of the connection. Connect the camera or card reader directly to the USB port.
