Wiring Diagram for GE dryer

I am changing the start switch and forgot which wire goes where. Do you know where I can find the instructions?

  • heather19 Dec 19, 2008

We actually have 3 wires and we have it connected but it either won't stay on when we turn the knob or it stays on when the timer is on.

You ain't got but two legs to connect right?
Does not matter which way you hook it. When you press the button all it does is complete the circuit. Ain't no way to screw that up.

Look at the wires with a good magnefying glass. The switch may have markings like 1 2 or 3 on it. The wires will have a 1 2 or 3 marked on them.

Actually there are 3. My problem was original was USA made. Replacement, china. Configured completely different. However, by following your advice, I put the wires on the same terminal number on the new switch and SUCCESS! Thank you!

2019 GE GTD72EBPN0DG electric dryer, took front off and dropped it ripping wires apart.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks category.

Did you look inside the back console where the control knob is for the wiring diagram? They are normally inside there in a plastic bag.

It is only for the door switch, so it is just a two wire, open / closed circuit. Join blue to blue, and pink to yellow.

There are generic GE Door Switch replacement videos here.

GTD72EBPN0DG ge 2019 electric dryer, took front off and dropped it ripping wires apart from harness....wire colors don't match up. anyone know which colors from the door blue and yellow connect to the...

However, in general, blue and yellow wires from the door of a dryer are typically associated with the door switch or lock mechanism. Pink and blue wires from the wiring harness could be associated with other electrical components, such as the control board or heating element. I would strongly advise against attempting to guess which wires to connect based solely on the colors, as this could potentially cause further damage or pose a safety hazard. It would be best to consult the user manual or wiring diagram for your dryer model, or to contact a professional appliance repair service for assistance with rewiring the dryer.

Need a color coded wiring diagram of the timer M460-G for the GE electric dryer DSXH43EAOWW

All GE dryers have a wiring diagram inside the control panel on the left side as you stand in front of the dryer. It should show the wiring in black but with color coding listed for each wire. If yours is missing I will try to locate a copy. SearsPartsDirect use to have some wiring diagrams on their parts site.

Need wiring diagram for light in ge dryer

Most all washers and dryers have a wiring diagram inside of the service panel on the rear of the appliance.

If you know you have a good bulb, then the problem is very likely the door switch. The circuit for the bulb is pretty straight forward, so if it's not the bulb, it's the switch.

Dryer

drcool is right, we need to know what type of dryer, but is sounds like the centrifugal safty switch is bad and that is why it was not reamining running after you release the start button. Some dryers it is seperate from the motor, others it is in the motor, that is where I would start testing and see if that switch is bad. You really will need a wiring diagram to truly trouble shoot it, and most dryers have them somewhere inside the covers.
