Maytag Stove Model MER5570BCW purchased in 2001. Get F9 beep beep error code...oven shuts off...display says lock but door does not lock. Already replaced clock computer unit 3 days ago and checked door lock mechanism which is fine. Tonight it did same thing again.

    See above. Just replaced clock unit and had door lock mechanism checked three days ago by a Maytag repairman. Do I have to have a repairman here and replace the clock every three days? Gets pretty pricey. Something must be causing this to happen.

  • lmpaulsen Dec 19, 2008

    What you said is exactly what the repairman said and he did both.

  • lmpaulsen Dec 19, 2008

    Even though the door lock mechanism appeared to work...why would the F9 error code say "lock"...yet the door isn't locked...I pushed clean and the door locked as it was supposed to unlocked when I pressed cancel. The repairman tested it as well. Yet there must be a reason why on both the old clock unit and the new clock unit, when the F9 error code appeared, both times it also indicated "lock". Is there some circuit or wire that could be faulty and maybe shorting or something that would cause the F9 "lock" error code to appear?

    Thank you, but even though the sensor says so, the door lock has never been a problem. Although the F9lock error code means is that it's is either the clock or the door. I now have the option of gambling on another new clock which would be number four in the seven year life of this stove, or get a new stove. The new stove is being delivered Dec. 23. Thanks anyway....

    F9 error code - oven and broiler do not work. no beeping or message. clock stays out. For no reason clock comes back on (2-3 days) oven works again but broiler does not. Repairman thinks it is the clock unit. Have been waiting 4 weeks + for Maytag to send new unit for replacement, Hope, if it ever arrives that it will clear the problem.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls unplug unit from tha mains for an extended period of time to reset the "clock computer". Thereafter a couple of steps you may want to try:

  • visually inspect the door latch or "door lock mechanism";
  • visually inspect the tab on the door itself (might be bent, loose or out of position);
  • remove the access panel on the front of the oven to gain access to the locking device and see it it needs to manually release it;
  • press and hold the door latch to unlock position, without releasing the hold, press CANCEL for a few seconds.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

    I had a second look at the wiring diagram. In some versions, there appears to be two (2) door switches; 1 lock switch and the other, a door activated switch. The first has black, red & tan wires while the second uses black, black & purple. The door activated switch trigger on the oven lamp same as the oven light switch. The 2 black wires from this switch are normally not connected.

    You may be interested to reference the wiring diagram.

You may need to reset the stove unit (unplug for 15 minutes then replace plug) if this does not work the door lock sensor will need replaced!

The ovens fail to work after the cleaning cycle - displays says "call service". Now both ovens will not operate and neither do the timers.

Maytag model MER6772BAW was displayying f9-2 and call Authorized
service after cleaning also top door was locked and feature were disabled. I was able to solve the problem by unplugin the stove and waited about ten seconds before re-conecting once up the top door unlocked cleared the f9-2 error by pressing Auto set button and number 9 for Defauts. Perhaps this can help you.
