Re: uniden grant xl no speaker sound
The only think i can think of at the moment from using cb's and now amateur radios is that the antenna antenuator is on. adjust that and see if it helps... also plug an external speaker into the back and see if you get better volume from that.

you need to set up the individual volume levels for each speaker.
do a sound test tone which will check for a signal from each speaker.
if you hear the speakers at different volumes you know you need to adjust the ones that are too weak. hope this helps
You can't You need a spectrum analyzer to set the frequency correctly. This is not something you can do by ear. When you go poking around inside with a screw driver, you can mess up the entire radio. One adjustment will affect other adjustments. That's why there are radio repair shops. Just take it to one.
Check first if theres a speaker cutoff in the menu of the set or the back of the set. Next see if theres a headphone jack and plug in a set of phones to see if you get sound. If you do a connection on the jack is bad. if you put youe ear right next to the speaker and hear a little background noise or a little sound then its probably in the volume control curcuit. if you hear nothing at all its the audio output IC or the speaker itself is defective. Good Luck
