Question about Apple InFocus X1 Multimedia Projector

INfocus X1 does nothing after bulb replacement

I let my kid use my X1 to pay his X360 on. A week or so later, I powered up the X1, and it started fine. The only problem was that there was no image or light whatsoever being projected. I powered off and back on a few times, but nothing. I asked the kid what happened, and he claimed no knowledge of the problem.

I tried to power the X1 on again, and the same problem persisted. The projector was running, but no light. Actually, there was light: the blinking red lights that indicated a bulb failure.

When I opened the bulb housing, I discovered the bulb has shattered. Sweet. But not really sweet at all.

I got a replacement bulb, installed it, and now I cannot get my X1 to turn on at all. It powers on and immediately shuts off. I am not getting any error lights, no whirring of the color wheel, just a start up and shut down. No light is being emitted for the several seconds the projector is on until it shuts down.

I rechecked the bulb installation, and I seem to have done everything correct on the install.

Anyone know what the problem may be? I have a new bulb, but now no projector to use it in!

Thanks for any help.

First off, make sur you have the right lamp (sp-lamp-009, 2 white wires. not the sp-lamp-018, one white, one red. the wires are in different locations in the plug). if you don't hear the colorwheel whirring, that'd be the next step. however, you cannot buy just the colorwheel. infocus does not sell individual parts of the optical engine. but that wouldn't matter, seeing as how they don't sell the engine anymore. also make sure the lamp door is completely closed. there is a peg on it that activates a switch to let the projector know it's closed. if you remove the lamp and use a flat-head screwdriver to activate that switch, turn on the projector. look inside the lamp housing and see if the colorwheel spins. if not, i think you need a new projector. if it does, check the fans. they can be replaced.

Lamp burned out on X1 infocus projector, Replaced lamp, new lamp stopped working in about 5 hours, got another new lamp and it does not light at all. Still blinking 3 red blinks(saying the bulb is bad)

make sure the colorwheel is spinning. if it is not, replace it. also, blow the dust out of it with canned air. excessive dust kills lamps quickly. you'll also need to reset the lamp timer. are you using an sp-lamp-009? the sp-lamp-018 looks exactly like it, but is used in th x1a and x2. the x1 only uses the sp-lamp-009. if all else fails, replace the power supply.

Replaced bulb. Worked for a while then wouldnt power up again.

the cheew cheew cheew is the colorwheel not spinning properly. either the colorwheel motor is shot, the sensor can't sense it, or the power to it is too low. first thing: remove the cover and blow the dust out of it with canned air. dust does a lot of damage to these. if it is the sensor, cleaning it off might help. if it is the colorwheel, i have bad news: on the x1, the colorwheel is not sold seperately from the optical engine. you'd have to get the entire optical engine. now the worse news: infocus no longer makes or sells parts for the x1. you could try and find one on ebay that has a different problem and swap out the parts

The bulb on X1 blew out, I replaced the bulb, the

it's the fan. if it won't spin full power, it can't cool down the projector and it'll shut down. there are 2: 60mm (part # 526-0153-00) and 80mm (526-0152-00). both can be purchased from infocus or an infocus service center.

?blown bulb

do you hear a high pitched whir or chirping? the whir is normal. the chirping is the colorwheel not syncing with the dmd chip. this will cause that image distortion. if the colorwheel is fine, then it's the dmd chip of the chip pcb that needs reseating or replacing.

Infocus X1 lighting problem

Hello,
Well there are only a couple of things that could cause this problem. However considering this all started when it was mounted consider the possibility you may have used screws that are too long and are is/are subsequently shorting something out.

Assuming the power outlet and cable is OK the most likely problem is the power supply and needs to be replaced.
