Problem for Apple InFocus X1 Multimedia Projector

INfocus X1 does nothing after bulb replacement

I let my kid use my X1 to pay his X360 on. A week or so later, I powered up the X1, and it started fine. The only problem was that there was no image or light whatsoever being projected. I powered off and back on a few times, but nothing. I asked the kid what happened, and he claimed no knowledge of the problem.

I tried to power the X1 on again, and the same problem persisted. The projector was running, but no light. Actually, there was light: the blinking red lights that indicated a bulb failure.

When I opened the bulb housing, I discovered the bulb has shattered. Sweet. But not really sweet at all.

I got a replacement bulb, installed it, and now I cannot get my X1 to turn on at all. It powers on and immediately shuts off. I am not getting any error lights, no whirring of the color wheel, just a start up and shut down. No light is being emitted for the several seconds the projector is on until it shuts down.

I rechecked the bulb installation, and I seem to have done everything correct on the install.

Anyone know what the problem may be? I have a new bulb, but now no projector to use it in!

Thanks for any help.

first off, make sur you have the right lamp (sp-lamp-009, 2 white wires. not the sp-lamp-018, one white, one red. the wires are in different locations in the plug). if you don't hear the colorwheel whirring, that'd be the next step. however, you cannot buy just the colorwheel. infocus does not sell individual parts of the optical engine. but that wouldn't matter, seeing as how they don't sell the engine anymore. also make sure the lamp door is completely closed. there is a peg on it that activates a switch to let the projector know it's closed. if you remove the lamp and use a flat-head screwdriver to activate that switch, turn on the projector. look inside the lamp housing and see if the colorwheel spins. if not, i think you need a new projector. if it does, check the fans. they can be replaced.
